Background: Liquid biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure investigating tumor mutations.
Methods: In our retrospective study, we investigated whether molecular therapy monitoring of patients receiving neoadjuvant radio(chemo)therapy on a daily routine is possible in 17 patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. Six patients received short-course radiotherapy (5 × 5 Gy) with subsequent surgery, six patients were treated according RAPIDO protocol with short-course radiotherapy followed by chemotherapy (FOLFOX4) and subsequent surgery and five patients received conventional neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy with 5-FU followed by surgery.
Background: The Physiological and Operative Severity Score for the enUmeration of Mortality and Morbidity (POSSUM) weights the patient's individual health status and the extent of the surgical procedure to estimate the probability of postoperative complications and death of general surgery patients. The variations Portsmouth-POSSUM (P-POSSUM) and colorectal POSSUM (CR-POSSUM) were developed for estimating mortality in patients with low perioperative risk and for patients with colorectal carcinoma, respectively. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the significance of POSSUM, P-POSSUM, and CR-POSSUM in two independent colorectal cancer cohorts undergoing surgery, with an emphasis on laparoscopic procedures.

Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra) is a natural anti-inflammatory cytokine; however, its contribution to cancer pathogenesis and immunosuppression remains elusive. In this research, we investigated the role and mechanism of IL-1Ra in malignant progression of PDA.

MPCs represent less than 1% of all pancreatic cancers, and, with only 26 cases in the literature, knowledge regarding drug response and treatment outcome is very limited.
Material And Methods: We present the case of a 64-year-old male patient with MPC who was treated by left pancreatic resection and adjuvant chemotherapy.
Patient-derived organoids are promising tumor models for functional validation of next-generation sequencing-based therapy recommendations. In times of rapidly advancing precision oncology approaches in everyday clinical processes, reliable and valid tumor models are required. Tumor organoids consist of tumor "stem" cells, differentiated (epithelial) tumor, and stroma cells.
