The Relationship of Frailty with Psychopathology, Childhood Traumas and Insecure Attachment in Young Adults: A Cross-Sectional Investigation.

Objective: Reciprocal connections exist between mental health and physical health, and conditions of cellular senescence/advanced biological age have been observed in association with certain psychiatric diseases. However, the construct of frailty has only preliminarily been explored in young adults and in relation to psychopathology so far. In the present study we aimed at further elucidating the relationships linking psychopathological phenomena with physical diseases in a sample of young adults.

The association between surgical complications and compliance to the World Health Organization Surgical Safety Checklist: A retrospective analysis of hospital records.

Background: The World Health Organization Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC), now used by healthcare providers worldwide, has proved to be useful in the improvement of patients' health through the reduction of mortality and morbidity after surgery. In the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy the SSC is accompanied by a document that registers any non-conformity (NC) identified during SSC completion. This study aimed to investigate the association between surgical complications and checklist compliance, in terms of incompleteness and presence of NCs, using data from the Modena Local Health Unit (LHU).

Prevalence of demoralization and depressive symptoms in a sample of patients with supraventricular tachyarrhythmias: preliminary results.

Introduction: Supraventricular tachyarrhythmias (ST) are the most common cardiac arrhythmias. Little is known about the potential impact of demoralization, which is considered as partially distinct from depression, on the course of ST. A correct assessment of both depressive symptoms and demoralization appears relevant for the treatment of these cardiac diseases, potentially influencing their course.

Childhood Trauma, Mentalization and Obsessive Compulsive Symptoms in a Non-Clinical Sample: A Mediation Analysis Study.

Objective: Obsessive and compulsive symptoms (OCS) are cross-cutting psychopathological manifestations frequently detected in a variety of clinical and non-clinical samples. It has been suggested that impaired mentalization abilities and traumatic experiences during childhood may be relevant etiopathogenetic factors in the development of OCS. The purpose of the current study was to cross-sectionally assess these variables in a non-clinical sample, testing the mediational role of mentalization abilities in the association between childhood trauma (CT) and OCS.
