Article Synopsis
  • Advances in AI for diagnostic imaging show promise, particularly in detecting fractures in children, but existing studies are limited.
  • The objective was to assess an AI algorithm's performance in detecting traumatic appendicular fractures in pediatric cases and compare it with human readers.
  • Results indicated the AI algorithm had high accuracy (sensitivity of 95.6% and specificity of 91.64%) and even identified fractures that some pediatric radiologists missed.

Cyst-like lesions are a rare radiologic presentation following fractures in children. We report the case of a 3-year-old boy having three cyst-like lesions after a buckle fracture of his left radius that was diagnosed with digital radiography and CT scan. We also describe the lesions' ultrasonographic appearance, which has not been addressed in other studies.

Tubal sterilization with Essure inserts has become a prevalent alternative to laparoscopic sterilization because of its minimal invasiveness. It is a well-tolerated ambulatory procedure that provides reliable permanent contraception without the risks associated with laparoscopic surgery and general anesthesia. Correct positioning of the Essure device is necessary to achieve the fibrotic reaction induced by the polyethylene terephthalate fibers, subsequently resulting in tubal occlusion usually within 3 months.

Article Synopsis
  • Diagnosing fetal spinal dysraphism is complicated due to challenges in differentiating between conditions like meningocele, myelomeningocele, and limited dorsal myeloschisis (LDM).
  • Although myelomeningocele often has a poor prognosis, LDM can lead to positive outcomes.
  • A case study shows how fetal MRI was crucial in accurately diagnosing LDM after initial misinterpretation as meningocele based on ultrasound findings, emphasizing the need for precise imaging to avoid management errors in prenatal care.
