High-dimensional brain activity is often organized into lower-dimensional neural manifolds. However, the neural manifolds of the visual cortex remain understudied. Here, we study large-scale multi-electrode electrophysiological recordings of macaque (Macaca mulatta) areas V1, V4, and DP with a high spatiotemporal resolution.

We studied local field potentials (LFPs) during pre-cued reaching behavior in macaques. They contained a low beta band (<20 Hz) dominant in primary motor cortex and a high beta band (>20 Hz) dominant in dorsal premotor cortex (PMd).

This therapeutic approach may be an appropriate complementary treatment for some mental illnesses. It could prevent high levels of morbidity and improve the physical health of patients.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFDuchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)'s complex multi-system pathophysiology, coupled with the cost-prohibitive logistics of multi-year drug screening and follow-up, has hampered the pursuit of new therapeutic approaches. Here we conducted a systematic historical and text mining-based pilot feasibility study to explore the potential of established or previously tested drugs as prospective DMD therapeutic agents. Our approach utilized a Swanson linking-inspired method to uncover meaningful yet largely hidden deep semantic connections between pharmacologically significant DMD targets and drugs developed for unrelated diseases.
