Purpose: Treatment outcomes of locally advanced rectal cancer have improved significantly in recent decades. This retrospective study aimed to assess the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) followed by surgery in patients with T4 rectal cancer and the different outcomes between T4a and T4b patients.
Materials And Methods: A total of 60 clinically T4 rectal cancer patients who underwent nCRT were included in the analysis.

Lung Ischemia-reperfusion injury (LIRI) is a risk during lung transplantation that can cause acute lung injury and organ failure. In LIRI, the NF-E2-related factor 2(Nrf2)/ Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1) signaling pathway and the nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) signaling pathway are two major pathways involved in regulating oxidative stress and inflammation, respectively. Myrtenol, a natural compound with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, has potential protective effects against IRI.

Background/aim: Current approaches for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) typically recommend neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) with 5-fluorouracil (5FU) or its oral analogs followed by surgery as the standard of care. However, the question of whether intensifying concurrent chemotherapy by adding oxaliplatin to the 5FU-based backbone can yield better outcomes remains unresolved. This study aimed to investigate the benefits of incorporating oxaliplatin into fluoropyrimidine-based chemoradiotherapy (CRT) to increase locoregional control and survival.

An asymmetric wound dressing introduced, inspired by the skin structure made of chitosan and alginate hydrogel as the bottom layer and electrospun PCL-silk sericin (PCL-SS) as the top layer. In addition, an anti-inflammatory, bactericidal and immunomodulatory substance, 10-hydroxydecanoic acid (10-HDA), known as queen bee acid, was loaded in inner layer. The wound dressing was thoroughly characterized and confirmed to meet the criteria of a standard wound dressing through in vitro and in vivo studies.
