Hypertension is a serious health concern, especially in developing countries, and assessing people's knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) is important for its awareness and management. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the KAP on hypertension among students and staff from the Health Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Faculty of the University of Namibia. A cross-sectional study design was conducted on adult participants who completed the KAP questionnaire while resting, and thereafter their blood pressure (BP) was measured.

Here, we describe the development of the Physiology Curriculum for African Universities (PhysioCAFUN), a competency-based curriculum development guideline, as a first step to address such shortcomings. A committee of 15 physiologists from different African regions, Europe, and the United States was constituted to draft the PhysioCAFUN, which was introduced and revised during the joint East African Society of Physiological Sciences (EASPS) and African Association of Physiological Sciences (AAPS) conference held in Tanzania late 2023.

Objectives: To determine how central BP compares with conventional BP in their association with left ventricular mass index (LVMI), among hypertensive patients.
Methods: Ninety-five participants were evaluated.
Background: Although body mass index (BMI) is an important confounder of hypertension and a relationship has been postulated between BMI and blood pressure (BP) in the hypertensive range, the relationship between BMI and central BP remains poorly studied.
Objectives: To determine how central BP parameters relate to BMI, in a group of hypertensive patients.
Methods: In ongoing data, 55 hypertensive patients (average age =52.
The aqueous calyx extract of Hibiscus sabdariffa (HS) is widely consumed as a beverage in Northern Nigeria and other parts of the world. HS has been reported to lower blood pressure (BP) in animals and man. However, not much is known about the effect of HS on BP in different postures.
