Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a degenerative disorder involving significant memory loss and other cognitive deficits, manifesting as a progression from normal cognitive functioning to mild cognitive impairment to AD. The sooner an accurate diagnosis of probable AD is made, the easier it is to manage symptoms and plan for future therapy. Functional neuroimaging stands to be a useful tool in achieving early diagnosis.

This paper considers canonical correlation analysis for two longitudinal variables that are possibly sampled at different time resolutions with irregular grids. We modeled trajectories of the multivariate variables using random effects and found the most correlated sets of linear combinations in the latent space. Our numerical simulations showed that the longitudinal canonical correlation analysis (LCCA) effectively recovers underlying correlation patterns between two high-dimensional longitudinal data sets.

Background: Playlist for Life is a brief, inexpensive music listening intervention which originated in dementia care, but is increasingly being used for people at the end of life. However, there is a lack of robust empirical research on its application in the hospice setting. Our patient and public involvement group originated the idea for this study.

Unlabelled: Previous studies suggest a negative association between prenatal polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) exposure and child cognitive and psychomotor development. However, the timing of the relationship between PBDE exposure and neurodevelopment is still unclear. We examined the association between PBDE concentration at two different prenatal times (early and late pregnancy) and cognitive function in children 6-8 years of age.
