Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is defined as left ventricular enlargement accompanied by systolic dysfunction not explained by abnormal loading conditions or coronary heart disease. The DCM clinical spectrum is broad, ranging from subclinical to severe presentation with progression to end stage heart failure. To date, different genetic loci have been found to have moderate/definitive evidence for causality in DCM and pathogenic variants in the TTN gene represent the main genetic determinant.

Background: Pump speed optimization in patients implanted with a ventricular assist device represents a major challenge during the follow-up period. We present our findings on whether combined invasive hemodynamic ramp tests and cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPX) can help optimize patient management.

Methods: Eighteen patients implanted with a HeartMate 3 (HM3) device underwent ramp tests with right heart catheterization (including central venous pressure [CVP], pulmonary artery pressure, pulmonary capillary wedge pressure [PCWP], and blood pressure) and echocardiography.

An aortic thrombus may be detected by using transesophageal echocardiography after an embolic event. Clinical features are variable and may include cardiac and neurologic symptoms, such as the stroke. We report a case of a woman with an acute ischemic stroke, a myocardial infarction and a free floating aortic thrombus.

Study Objective: The aim of the study is to verify: 1) the trustworthiness level of the diagnosis of AMI defined in Emergency Department (ER); 2) the frequency and the effectiveness (length of staying in hospital, mortality rate) of the invasive or not invasive treatment which are implemented in the ER area.

Methods: We have studied the crowding of the patients suffering from chest pain (CP) who asked the ER for assistance during the year 2000 and that of the patients with AMI diagnosed in ER (diagnosis at the admittance and at the discharge from the hospital, therapeutic procedures, staying in hospital, mortality rate).

Results: The patients suffering from CP have been the 5.

Hospitalization of patients with heart failure is often caused by poor adherence to drug therapy, by suboptimal utilization of ACE inhibitors and beta-blockers, and by the lack of systematic monitoring of patients after discharge. The aim of the study is to verify the impact of an outpatient management program on the hospitalization rate and functional status of patients with chronic heart failure. Over a five-year period, 435 patients entered our outpatient management program, which includes adjustment in medical therapy, patient education and visits timed according to the patient's status.
