Influence of medical didactic training on the self-efficacy and motivation of clinical teachers.

Objectives: Due to increasing workload and rising expectations for both undergraduate and speciality training in medicine, teaching in a clinical environment can be challenging. The "Train the Trainer" course, developed by CAL (Chirurgische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Lehre, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Chirurgie (DGCH)), aims to assist clinical teachers in their task. This study investigates the effect the course has on participants' self-efficacy and teaching motivation.

[Indications and technique of open vascular surgical revascularization of visceral arteries in mesenteric ischemia].

Open revascularization for mesenteric ischemia has retained a significant value despite the increasing importance and use of endovascular techniques. Surgical procedures such as retrograde embolectomy, thromboendarterectomy and visceral bypass are indispensable components of the therapeutic armamentarium, particularly in cases of multisegmental vascular involvement, failure of previous endovascular treatment and concomitant presence of peritonitis, shock or multiorgan failure. In this context, preoperative multiphase computed tomography (CT) angiography is essential for the planning and outcome of visceral revascularization.

Spatial frequency domain imaging for the assessment of scleroderma skin involvement.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune disease characterized by the widespread deposition of excess collagen in the skin and internal organs, as well as vascular dysfunction. The current standard of care technique used to quantify the extent of skin fibrosis in SSc patients is the modified Rodnan skin score (mRSS), which is an assessment of skin thickness based on clinical palpation. Despite being considered the gold standard, mRSS testing requires a trained physician and suffers from high inter-observer variability.

Acute Abdominal Pain as a Result of an Isolated Left Ovarian Vein Thrombosis.

Ovarian vein thrombosis (OVT) is a rare thromboembolic condition. It involves the right ovarian vein in 70-80% of cases. The risk factors for the development of OVT are pregnancy or puerperium, hormone therapy with estrogen, recent surgery or hospitalization, malignancy, pelvic inflammatory diseases, thrombophilia and idiopathic OVT.
