Article Synopsis
  • Müllerian duct anomalies (MDAs) are rare congenital disorders of the female reproductive system, affecting about 0.5%-5.0% of the population due to abnormal development of the Müllerian ducts.
  • A case study describes a 16-year-old Middle Eastern girl with primary amenorrhea and abdominal pain, diagnosed with uterine didelphys accompanied by a transverse vaginal septum.
  • This specific combination is exceptionally uncommon, with this being only the third reported case in medical literature, differing from the more typical association of uterine didelphys with a longitudinal vaginal septum.

Article Synopsis
  • - The case discusses a 53-year-old man with alcoholic cardiomyopathy (ACM) who presented symptoms like shortness of breath and abdominal swelling, leading to a diagnosis of ACM, liver cirrhosis, and a rare isolated right atrial (RA) thrombus.
  • - Initial tests missed the RA mass, but advanced imaging techniques ultimately identified a large thrombus measuring 40x22x18 mm, prompting treatment with medication and a procedure called mechanical thrombectomy.
  • - The case highlights that isolated RA thrombosis is a rare complication of ACM, emphasizing the importance of using multiple imaging methods, especially transesophageal echocardiography, for accurate diagnosis and management in such cardiac cases.

Introduction: An Epidural hematoma following a Ventriculoperitoneal shunt is a critically rare complication. The literature and treatment options were discussed.

Background: Hyponatremia is among the most common electrolyte disturbances encountered in clinical practice and is associated with a high rate of morbidity and mortality. However, there are very limited data on adult cases presenting to emergency departments with hyponatremia.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the frequency, clinical characteristics, and outcomes in hyponatremic patients presenting to emergency departments.

Objective: To characterize the psychological well-being, everyday functioning, and autonomy of emerging adults with congenital heart disease (CHD) and explore how they relate to the executive function (EF) deficits commonly observed in this population.

Study Design: Questionnaires assessing psychological well-being (encompassing psychosocial functioning and resilience), EF, and age-appropriate indicators of everyday function and autonomy (eg, housing, education, employment, relationship status) were completed by participants with CHD (16-26 years) who underwent open-heart surgery during infancy and age- and sex-matched controls.

Results: A total of 58 emerging adults with CHD and 57 controls participated in this study.
