Impact of stress and decision fatigue on parenting practices related to food and physical activity during COVID-19.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in substantial disruptions to daily functioning and lifestyle behaviours, with negative health consequences for youth. Parents play a large role in their children's health behaviour; yet changes to parenting behaviours during the pandemic related to food and physical activity remain relatively unexplored. The present study is the first to our knowledge to examine specific changes in American parents' parenting behaviours related to food and physical activity during COVID-19, and potential correlates of such changes, including perceived stress and decision fatigue.

Anatomical variations in the formation of the human oesophageal hiatus.

The formation of the oesophageal hiatus was studied in 50 human diaphragms in which crura and the median arcuata ligaments were carefully dissected and their fibres were carefully traced to the central tendon. In 98% of the cases the right crus was divided into a medial, a middle and a lateral bundle. In 90% the left crus was divided into a medial and a lateral bundle.

The development of the human phreno-oesophageal membrane.

23 human fetal diaphragms were used to study the structural changes of the phreno-oesophageal membrane at the different prenatal ages. 2 human adult diaphragms were used for comparison. This membrane was found to be formed by both the superior and inferior diaphragmatic fasciae.

Trophic specificity of the gustatory fibers upon taste bud regeneration.

24 adult dogs were classified into six groups; in 2 animals of each group the lingual nerve was transected distal to the point of entry of the chorda tympani and its proximal end was sutured to the distal end of the glossopharyngeal nerve. In the other 2 animals transtympanic chorda tympani neurectomy was performed before suturing the lingual and glossopharyngeal nerves. Invasion of the papillae by regenerating fibers from the 8th postoperative week onwards was followed by reappearance of taste buds only in lingual glossopharyngeal anastomosis with intact chorda tympani.
