Introduction: Oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) prevents Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) acquisition. In the Netherlands, PrEP is accessible through the national PrEP program (NPP) or general practitioners (GP). Still, some men who have sex with men (MSM) entering HIV care indicated having PrEP experience prior to diagnosis.

Huntington's disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disorder caused by a CAG trinucleotide repeat expansion in the first exon of the huntingtin gene. The huntingtin protein (Htt) is ubiquitously expressed and localized in several organelles, including endosomes, where it plays an essential role in intracellular trafficking. Presymptomatic HD is associated with a failure in energy metabolism and oxidative stress.

Background: The Cavalieri estimator is used for volume measurement of brain and brain regions. Derived from this estimator is the Area Fraction Fractionator (AFF), used for efficient area and number estimations of small 2D elements, such as axons in cross-sectioned nerves. However, to our knowledge, the AFF has not been combined with serial sectioning analysis to measure the volume of small-size nervous structures.

Self-Rated Health among Older Adults: Longitudinal Analyses Examining Sex Differences across Different Birth Cohorts and Educational Levels.

Introduction: Given the known female disadvantage in physical and mental health, this study aimed to investigate sex differences in self-rated health (SRH) among older adults, considering the longitudinal course by age, birth cohort, and educational level.

Methods: Data from birth cohort 1911-1937 with baseline age 55-81 years (n = 3,107) and birth cohort 1938-1947 with baseline age 55-65 years (n = 1,002) from the Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam (LASA) were used. Mixed model analyses were used to examine sex differences in SRH (RAND General Health Perception Questionnaire [RAND-GHPQ], range 0-16) over the age course, testing for effect modification by the birth cohort and educational level (low, middle, high).
