Photocatalytic Semiconductor-Metal Hybrid Nanoparticles: Single-Atom Catalyst Regime Surpasses Metal Tips.

Semiconductor-metal hybrid nanoparticles (HNPs) are promising materials for photocatalytic applications, such as water splitting for green hydrogen generation. While most studies have focused on Cd containing HNPs, the realization of actual applications will require environmentally compatible systems. Using heavy-metal free ZnSe-Au HNPs as a model, we investigate the dependence of their functionality and efficiency on the cocatalyst metal domain characteristics ranging from the single-atom catalyst (SAC) regime to metal-tipped systems.

CARLIN: A Mouse Line for Simultaneous Readout of Lineage Histories and Gene Expression.

The CRISPR-activated repair lineage tracing (CARLIN) mouse line uses DNA barcoding to enable high-resolution tracing of cell lineages in vivo (Bowling et al, Cell 181, 1410-1422.e27, 2020). CARLIN mice contain expressed barcodes that allow simultaneous interrogation of lineage and gene expression information from single cells.

Mechanism of Hot-Carrier Photoluminescence in Sn-Based Perovskites.

Metal halide perovskites have shown exceptionally slow hot-carrier cooling, which has been attributed to various physical mechanisms without reaching a consensus. Here, experiment and theory are combined to unveil the carrier cooling process in formamidinium (FA) and caesium (Cs) tin triiodide thin films. Through impulsive vibrational spectroscopy and molecular dynamics, much shorter phonon dephasing times of the hybrid perovskite, which accounts for the larger blueshift in the photoluminescence seen at high excitation density for FASnI compared to CsSnI is reported.

Research techniques to expand the diagnosis, macroelimination, and microelimination of hepatitis C in local contexts.

Background: Local studies are essential to determine the prevalence and risk factors of hepatitis C.

Methods: We conducted a mixed methods study aimed at strengthening hepatitis C elimination efforts in Brazil, with concomitant triangulation of techniques and integration of qualitative and quantitative approaches.

Results: The study resulted in the development of the following technical-technological products: a) institutional documents, b) organization of committees, c) mobilization strategies, d) models for improving intersectoral awareness, e) decision-making flowcharts, f) forms, and g) health service protocols and search strategies.
