Eye hemodynamic data and biochemical parameters of the lacrimal fluid of patients with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

This paper presents a data from examinations of patients treated in clinic of Tashkent medical academy, Uzbekistan. 165 Patients (305 eyes) with NPDR were randomly allocated to receive standard treatment as the control group, in addition to the standard treatment daily tablets of EGb 761 (Tanakan, Beaufour Ipsen Industrie, Paris, France) 120 mg as the 1st main group, or daily endonasal electrophoresis of Tanakan 40 mg as 2nd main group, within 10 days. All of the patients underwent baseline ophthalmologic examinations, definition of biochemical parameters of the lacrimal fluid and Doppler ultrasound imaging of the eye.

[Local microcirculation in persons with primary pterygium, as evidenced by fluorescein-angiographic studies].

Fluorescence angiography was used to study local microcirculation in 20 patients (9 females and 11 males) aged 18 to 48 years who had primary pterygium. All pterygiums were divided into unprogressive (10 patients, 10 eyes) and progressive (10 patients, 10 eyes). The revealed pattern of the microangioarchitectonics of pterygium suggests that there is an independent isolated microvascular system that comprises a system of posterior conjunctival vessels, relatively large arterial trunks, and a developed newly formed vasculature.

[Effect of bacteriophage on the lipid peroxidation process and antioxidant protective enzymes in experimental uveitis].

Experimental uveitis features distinct hyperlipoperoxidation in damaged eye tissues, blood serum and the liver. The activity of antioxidant defense (AOD) enzymes decreases in tissues and blood of experimental animals whereas catalase compensatorily activates in hepatic tissue. Experimental therapy of uveitis with gentamycin and bacteriophage results in reducing hyperlipoperoxidation, increased activity of AOD enzymes but no complete normalization is observed.

[Azelastine in the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis].

The efficiency of azelastin (eye drops) in allergic conjunctivitis was evaluated. Ophthalmological, specific allergological, bacteriological, and cytological studies were carried out in 3 groups of patients. Group 1 was treated with claritin (orally), group 2 with azelastin (eye drops), and group 3 with both.

[Morphometric parameters of the bulbar conjunctiva vessels in patients with gout].

Morphometry of the bulbar conjunctiva vessels in 50 patients with gout was carried out by television capillaroscopy with videorecording. The findings indicate that microcirculatory disorders start with dilatation of the venules, after which arterioles and capillaries are involved. This results in alteration of the arteriovenular coefficient and of the bloodflow velocity in the capillaries.
