Candy Cane Hypopyon Secondary to Intraocular Mantle Cell Lymphoma: A Case Report.

Introduction: Bilateral hemorrhagic hypopyon, also known as candy cane hypopyon, is an extremely rare presentation which we report as a unique case in association with intraocular mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).

Case Presentation: A 63-year-old white male presented with a 3-week history of conjunctival injection OS that was unresponsive to erythromycin ointment and topical steroids, in the setting of recently discovered diffuse lymphadenopathy and malaise. On presentation, he was found to have bilateral hemorrhagic hypopyon.

High-density lipoprotein protects normotensive and hypertensive rats against ischemia-reperfusion injury through differential regulation of mTORC1 and mTORC2 signaling.

Background: High-density lipoprotein (HDL) protects against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Mammalian target of rapamycin complexes 1 and 2 (mTORC1 and mTORC2) play opposing roles in protecting against I/R injury, whereby mTORC1 appears to be detrimental while mTORC2 is protective. However, the role of HDL and mTORC signaling in protecting against I/R in hypertensive rodents is not clearly understood.

The cardiac toxicity of PAMAM dendrimer drug delivery systems can be attenuated with the adjunct use of cardioprotective agents.

Polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer nanoparticles are efficient drug delivery vectors with potential clinical applications in nanomedicine. However, PAMAMs can compromise heart function, and strategies to mitigate cardiotoxicity would be beneficial. In this study, we investigated whether the adjunct use of three key cardioprotective agents could prevent the cardiac injury induced by a seventh-generation cationic PAMAM dendrimer (G7).

Immunoglobulin-Mediated Cardiac Protection From Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Diabetic Rats Is Associated With Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase/Glucose Transporter-4 Signaling Pathway.

The role of intravenous immunoglobulin in protecting the diabetic heart from ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is unclear. Hearts isolated from adult diabetic and nondiabetic Wistar rats (n = 8 per group) were treated with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) either 2 hours before euthanasia, before ischemia, or at reperfusion. Hemodynamic data were acquired using the Isoheart software version 1.

Characterisation of delayed severity flares in patients with HLA-B27-associated anterior uveitis.

Background/aims: To explore and characterise the clinical phenotype of acute anterior uveitis flares with delayed severity in patients with human leucocyte antigen B27 (HLA-B27)-associated anterior uveitis.

Methods: Retrospective chart review of patients with HLA-B27-associated anterior uveitis. Demographic and clinical data were recorded, as well as the clinical characteristics of acute anterior uveitis flares.
