Article Synopsis
  • The study produced dressings using Ag/ZnO nanoparticles and lavender oil incorporated into a PVA/Pet matrix via electron beam irradiation.
  • The nanoparticles were identified as spherical and about 27.4 nm in size, with the overall swelling capacity of the dressings improving significantly under certain conditions, but decreasing with higher irradiation doses.
  • The dressings exhibited biocompatibility, antimicrobial properties, and effective wound healing in rat models, indicating potential for use in clinical wound management.

Introduction: This work aims to validate the ameliorative influence of metformin against endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS)-prompted apoptosis caused by vanadium pentoxide (VO) or gamma-irradiation (γ-irradiation) in hepatic tissues of male rats.

Methods: There were six groups of rats: the control, metformin (100 mg/kg body weight, .), VO (12.

Fasting regimens have shown profound impact on pro-longevity and tissue regeneration in diverse species. Physiological events can induce a regenerative response in adult stem cells. However, little is known about signaling and activation of adult stem cells which are modulated by fasting.

Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the efficacy of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) or low-dose gamma radiation (LDR) on liver injury compared to the effect of extract as a hepatoprotective agent.

Methods: Rats were allocated into six groups; group I served as the negative control. Group II received 5% dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) in its drinking water for 1 week.

Purpose: Despite the effectiveness of ionizing radiation in treating cancer, it can damage healthy tissues in the vicinity. Due to the high radio-sensitivity of testicular tissues, radiation therapy may affect spermatogenesis, which may result in infertility. Hence, in this study testicular damage model is constructed to investigate the mitigation effect of Maca root powder and its potential radioprotective activity through both oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stresses, besides the apoptotic pathway.
