Introduction: Chronic effect of colchicine on the liver was not studied enough. We aimed to examine the association between long term colchicine use and incident cirrhosis among new colchicine initiators.

Study: Using database of Maccabi Healthcare Services (MHS), we included all patients aged ≥18 years old who initiated colchicine between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2018 and followed them until the earliest of the following: incident cirrhosis, leaving MHS, death or 31 December 2020.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is associated with cancers, including lymphomas and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). To date, risk variants for NPC were mainly identified from Chinese populations, which dominated the world's total number of cases. Although Southeast Asia (SEA) countries have among the world's top yet intriguingly diverse NPC age-standardized incidence rates across subpopulations, data on EBV from SEA remains scarce.

Active surveillance for febrile seizures was conducted at 12 Canadian pediatric centers (August 2021-December 2022). Of 3367 cases, 649 (19%) were hospitalized, 156/3367 (5%) had laboratory-confirmed acute SARS-CoV-2 infection, 363 (11%) had non-SARS-CoV-2 infection and 107 (3%) occurred as adverse events following immunization (vaccinated within 15 days before presentation). Febrile seizures were more frequently associated with infection than vaccination.
