Aim: Several studies have been conducted for the prevention of neuroma and recently published experimental studies include interventions on epineurium. The techniques which include interventions on epinerium were compared to reveal the role of epinurium in neuroma prevention.

Material E Methods: 55 Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into five groups.

Background: Delayed autologous nerve graft reconstruction is inevitable in devastating injuries. Delayed or prolonged repair time has deleterious effects on nerve grafts. We aimed improving and accelerating nerve graft reconstruction process in a rat long nerve defect model with loop nerve graft prefabrication particularly to utilize for injuries with tissue loss.

Objectives: This study aims to describe our surgery technique and discuss patients treated through the dorsoulnar artery (DUA)-based technique of osseous and osteo-fascio-cutaneous vascularized ulnar bone grafting.

Patients And Methods: Between January 2011 and January 2015, six male patients (median age: 22.5 years; range, 20 to 24 years) who underwent surgery during which the technique of DUA ulnar bone graft was utilized.

Background/aim: The pedicled transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous (TRAM) flap remains widely used as a breast reconstruction technique. The bipedicled TRAM flap is not as preferable as it was formerly, mainly because of its donor site complications. However, in a number of situations, a bipedicled TRAM flap may be the only alternative.

Peripheral nerve gaps exceeding 1 cm require a bridging repair strategy. Clinical feasibility of autogenous nerve grafting is limited by donor site comorbidity. In this study we investigated neuroregenerative efficacy of autogenous vein grafts implanted with tissue fragments from distal nerve in combination with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) or mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in repair of rat peripheral nerve defects.

Caustic chemicals cause destruction in tissues even long after the initial exposure. This study reported a case of recurrent graft lysis encountered throughout the treatment of a sodium hydroxide burn. A caustic burn on the ankle of a patient was reconstructed with split thickness skin grafts thrice in a period of four months.

The principal aim of skin expansion is to provide additional donor tissue without extra donor-site morbidity. Most of the reports about tissue expansion are focused on the properties of expander. Donor-site decision is usually underestimated.

The aim of this paper was to report a rare cause of radionecrosis and its long-term results. Iridium-192 ((192)Ir) is commonly used for radiography as a gamma ray source to locate flaws in welds and metal components in gas and oil industry. A 38-year-old man was subjected to radiation unintentionally.

Unlabelled: Nasal deformities affecting the bone and lower two-thirds of the nose due to the loss of septal height and tip support are defined as "saddle-nose" deformity. Reconstruction of a saddle-nose deformity essentially necessitates structural grafting. This article presents an alternative approach for correction of saddle-nose deformity using a microplate and costal cartilage.

Article Synopsis
  • Trichilemmal cysts (TCs) are common bumps on the skin that usually grow in places with hair, but one was found on a fingertip.
  • A 43-year-old woman had a small bump (1.5 × 1.5 cm) on her fingertip, which doctors removed and found it was a TC.
  • Even though TCs usually happen where there's hair, they can appear in strange places like fingertips, so it's important to check them closely after removal to be sure they're not something else.

Soft-tissue defects of the pretibial region constitute a major reconstructive challenge because of the insufficiency of the local tissues. In such cases, a long cross-leg flap may be an alternative option. This study presents a case with an atonic wound in the pretibial region caused by a previous traffic accident, which had received cross-leg flap repair following the excision.

Postburn cervical contractures involving the anterior neck represent a serious social, public, and medical problem. The expanded supraclavicular artery flap is a good reconstructive option for these defects to improve functional and aesthetic appearance. Its main vascular supply is the supraclavicular artery, and it may be harvested as either a skin pedicled flap or an island flap.

Ameloblastoma is a benign tumor of the mandible, which is not commonly diagnosed in the early stages. The extensive mandible resection may be needed for treatment. In this report, we present 6-year follow-up results of a patient who had undergone hemimandibulectomy and mandible reconstruction with free vascularized fibular flap, costochondral rib graft to restoration of the temporomandibular joint, and iliac bone graft to enhance the vertical height of the mandible.
