Article Synopsis
  • Sciatica is typically linked to nerve issues but can also arise from rare causes like hydatid cysts, as shown in a case where a thigh cyst produced similar symptoms.
  • A 40-year-old patient with a history of tuberculosis experienced persistent pain that MRI revealed was caused by a hydatid cyst, leading to successful surgical removal.
  • Diagnosing such atypical causes requires careful imaging and serological tests, highlighting the need for healthcare providers to consider uncommon etiologies to improve treatment outcomes for patients with resistant sciatica.

Sarcoidosis is a benign systemic disease; its diagnosis is based on a suggestive radiological presentation, and the isolation of an epithelioid and gigantocellular granuloma (EGGC) without caseous necrosis with the elimination of other causes of granuloma. However, sometimes the radiological presentation is atypical and misleading, posing problems in terms of differential diagnosis. In this report, we present a case of pseudotumor sarcoidosis, in which MRI played an essential role in characterizing the lesion and suggesting its benignity.

Article Synopsis
  • The study highlights a rare case of a giant cell tumor of the tendon sheaths (GCTTC) in a 32-year-old woman, detailing its unusual presentation and the therapeutic approach utilized.
  • The patient initially presented with a painful 2 cm mass on her big toe, which prompted an MRI revealing tendon invasion and bone lysis; surgical intervention involved tumor excision and toe preservation due to non-invasion of the pedicle.
  • GCTTCs are generally benign but can exhibit local aggressiveness, necessitating comprehensive surgical removal and careful radiological and histological evaluations to prevent recurrence.

Interactions between NO(3)(-) and NO(2)(-) were studied at the level of root uptake, ion translocation (NO(3)(-), NO(2)(-), K(+)), ion xylem exudates composition and inorganic cation contents (K(+), Ca(2+), Mg(2+)) using tomato seedling (Solanum lycopersicum Mill cv. Ibiza F1). Nitrite was supplied in the medium as KNO(2) (0, 0.

Activated carbon has been prepared from molasses, a natural precursor of vegetable origin resulting from the sugar industry in Morocco. The preparation of the activated carbon from the molasses has been carried out by impregnation of the precursor with sulphuric acid, followed by carbonisation at varying conditions (temperature and gas coverage) in order to optimize preparation parameters. The influence of activation conditions was investigated by determination of adsorption capacity of methylene blue and iodine, the BET surface area, and the pore volume of the activated carbon were determined while the micropore volume was determined by the Dubinin-Radushkevich (DR) equation.

This study records experiments undertaken to determine the suitable conditions for the use of the oil shale of Timahdit, as an adsorbent for water treatment. A simple process was proposed based on chemical activation. The preparation has been carried out by carbonization after impregnation of the precursor with phosphoric acid.
