Introduction: Chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy (CT-IO) is the standard treatment for patients with Extensive-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer (ES-SCLC). This study evaluates the effectiveness of second-line (2L) following CT-IO.

Patients And Methods: All patients from 10 centers who received a 2L after a first-line CT-IO were included.

Evaluation of Real-Life Chemoimmunotherapy Combination in Patients with Metastatic Small Cell Lung Carcinoma (SCLC): A Multicentric Case-Control Study.

The current first-line standard treatment for advanced small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. However, few efficacy data are available in a real-life settings, including frail patients. The aim of this study is to describe the real-life efficacy of chemoimmunotherapy in an unselected SCLC population.

Role of Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor in Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis.

Objective: To examine the association between macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) promoter polymorphisms and granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) in human subjects, and to assess the role of MIF in a murine model of granulomatous vasculitis.

Methods: The human study involved 1,077 patients with GPA and healthy controls whose serum was genotyped by capillary electrophoresis for the MIF -794 CATT promoter microsatellite (rs5844572). MIF promoter, CATT-length-dependent gene expression in response to β-glucan was assessed by gene reporter assays.

Denervation of the proximal interphalangeal joint: a realistic and simple procedure.

Pain relief in osteoarthritis of the proximal interphalangeal joint is a difficult problem. Joint denervation, a technique yielding good reproducible results in wrist and first carpometacarpal joint osteoarthritis, is, at the proximal interphalangeal joint level, a good alternative to implant arthroplasty or arthrodesis. The surgical technique is simple and may be performed under local anesthesia.

For many years, bipedicled palmar advancement flaps were used rarely in fingers because they sacrificed the dorsal branches of the digital arteries, risking dorsal skin necrosis. In 1995, a short bipedicled neurovascular VY advancement flap raised distally to the PIP flexion crease, which spared the dorsal blood supply, was described by Elliot et al. (1995).

Relationship between dorsal ganglion cysts of the wrist and intraosseous ganglion cysts of the carpal bones.

Soft tissue ganglion cysts are the most common benign tumours of the wrist; their pathogenesis remains controversial. We prospectively screened the radiographic appearance of the wrists of 51 patients presenting to a single surgeon with dorsal wrist ganglions during a one-year period. Postero-anterior and lateral radiographs were systematically performed looking for possible associated intraosseous ganglion cysts.

Epidemiology and determinants of outcome of admissions for atrial fibrillation in the United States from 1996 to 2001.

Despite numerous epidemiologic studies, few data exist on recent trends in admissions to United States hospitals of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) as a primary diagnosis and on the determinants of outcome of these hospitalizations. In the present study, we investigated recent trends in the incidence of AF admissions to United States hospitals from 1996 to 2001 using a representative sample of all acute-care hospital admissions in the United States provided by the Centers for Disease Control, with special attention to the importance of age, gender, race, and other determinants of outcome, namely, in-hospital mortality.
