A Case of Primary Renal Allograft Dysfunction Caused by Missed Monoclonal Disease.

We present an unusual etiology of primary renal allograft dysfunction attributed to myeloma cast nephropathy in a patient with no history of multiple myeloma before kidney transplant. The patient, a 54-year-old woman, had been on hemodialysis for 6 months before transplant for presumed diabetic nephropathy; she developed graft dysfunction immediately after transplant. Graft biopsy specimens were consistent with myeloma cast nephropathy, and she was treated with bortezomib, cyclophosphamide, and dexamethasone.

Prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease in kidney transplant recipients: A cross-sectional study using FibroScan.

Background And Aim: Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is expected to be prevalent among kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). In this study, we evaluated the prevalence of MAFLD among KTRs, data that have not been investigated by any clinical study to date.

Materials And Methods: We included a total of 52 KTRs and 53 age-, sex-, and BMI-matched individuals as the control group through prospective consecutive recruitment.

Objective: In patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), acute kidney injury (AKI) may alter the clinical course and outcome of the disease. In this study, the association of AKI with renin angiotensin system (RAS) inhibitor treatment and its clinical consequences were examined in COVID-19 patients admitted to our hospital during the initial stages of the pandemic.

Methods: A total of 407 patients between 18 and 85 years of age (202 male and 205 female) admitted to the Umraniye Research And Training Hospital between May 2020 and August 2020 with a diagnosis of COVID-19 were included in the study.

A case of dasatinib-induced focal segmental glomerulosclerosis in a patient with Philadelphia chromosome positive chronic myeloid leukemia.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis is a common glomerular histological lesion, which is usually characterised by non-nephrotic range proteinuria or nephrotic syndrome. It may be idiopathic or occurs secondarily to drugs, diabetes, obesity or HIV nephropathy and other infections. Dasatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that has been used for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia, has a few renal adverse effects.
