Various coronaviruses, which cause a wide range of human and animal diseases, have emerged in the past 50 years. This may be due to their abilities to recombine, mutate, and infect multiple species and cell types. A novel coronavirus, which is a family of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), has been termed COVID-19 by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Detection and identification of special cells via aptamer-based nano-conjugates sensors have been revolutionized over the past few years. These sensing platforms rely on selecting aptamers using systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (SELEX) in vitro, which allows for sensitive detection of cells. Integration of the aptamer-based sensors (aptasensors) with nanomaterials offers enhanced specificity and sensitivity, which in turn, offers great promise for numerous applications, spanning from bioanalysis to biomedical applications.

The main roles of DNA in the cells are to maintain and properly express genetic information. It is important to have analytical methods capable of fast and sensitive detection of DNA damage. DNA hybridization sensors are well suited for diagnostics and other purposes, including determination of bacteria and viruses.

Electrophoresis treatment was used to improve the function of a nano-TiO2 modified sol-gel electrode. Electrodes were prepared using TiO2 nanoparticles and fine graphite powder and then treated by electrophoresis. The developed electrode was employed for the detection of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) by following the decrease in the immobilised lactate peak current due to its LDH-mediated enzymatic oxidation.

The electrochemical behavior of the tyrosinase enzyme at the surface of two electrodes, carbon paste electrode (CPE) and nano-gold modified carbon paste electrode (NGCPE), has been studied by cyclic voltammetry. Tyrosinase showed one oxidation peak (around +0.85 V) and one reduction peak at + 0.

The electrochemical oxidation of ketamine as an analgesia and anesthesia drug and its interaction with DNA was studied at carbon paste electrode (CPE) using voltammetric techniques. Ketamine showed one irreversible oxidation peak nearly around +1.14 V vs.

Because of the biocompatible properties of gelatine and the good affinity of aptamers for their targets, the combination of aptamer and gelatine type B is reported as promising for the development of biosensing devices. Here, an aptamer for chloramphenicol (CAP) is mixed with different types of gelatine and dropped on the surface of disposable gold screen printed electrodes. The signal of the CAP reduction is investigated using differential pulse voltammetry.

The analytical methods which are often used for the determination of cocaine in complex biological matrices are a prescreening immunoassay and confirmation by chromatography combined with mass spectrometry. We suggest an ultra-high-pressure liquid chromatography combined with a potentiometric detector, as a fast and practical method to detect and quantify cocaine in biological samples. An adsorption/desorption model was used to investigate the usefulness of the potentiometric detector to determine cocaine in complex matrices.

In the present paper, the utility of a special potentiometric titration approach for recognition and calculation of biomolecule/small-molecule interactions is reported. This approach is fast, sensitive, reproducible, and inexpensive in comparison to the other methods for the determination of the association constant values (Ka) and the interaction energies (ΔG). The potentiometric titration measurement is based on the use of a classical polymeric membrane indicator electrode in a solution of the small-molecule ligand.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a family of non-protein-coding, endogenous, small RNAs. They are a group of gene regulators that function mainly by binding the 3' untranslated regions of specific target messenger RNA (mRNA) leading to gene inactivation by repression of mRNA transcription or induction of mRNA. Mature miRNAs are short molecules approximately 22 nucleotides in length.

A new electrochemical DNA biosensor is presented based on carbon past electrode (CPE) for immobilization and detection of short DNA sequences with brilliant cresyl blue (BCB) as electroactive label. The interaction of BCB with DNA is electrochemically detected and BCB displays different signals in the interaction to ssDNA and dsDNA and variation in the BCB signal represents the extent of hybridization at the electrode surface. The effect of solution pH on electrochemical behavior of BCB was investigated.
