In recent years, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as promising materials for biomedical applications, owing to their superior chemical versatility, unique textural properties and enhanced mechanical properties. However, their fast and uncontrolled degradation, together with the reduced bioactivity have restricted their clinical potential. To overcome these limitations, MOFs can be synergistically combined with other materials, such as bioactive glasses (BGs), known for their bioactivity and therapeutic ion releasing capabilities.

The patella and sesamoid bones are the most common bipartite bone sites. However, some unusual bones can also have this kind of variation and it is important to diagnose them correctly and avoid unnecessary overtreatment.

Turkish Society of Gastroenterology Pancreas Working Group developed comprehensive guidance statements regarding the management of AP that include its epidemiology, etiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic criteria, disease severity, treatment, prognosis, local and systemic complications. The statements were developed through literature review, deliberation, and consensus opinion.

A novel noninvasive MRI method, Microstructure-Informed Myelin Mapping (MIMM), is proposed to quantify the myelin volume fraction (MVF) from a routine multi-gradient echo sequence (mGRE) using a multiscale biophysical signal model of the effects of microstructural myelin and iron.
Theory And Methods: In MIMM, the effects of myelin are modeled based on the Hollow Cylinder Fiber Model accounting for anisotropy, while iron is considered as an isotropic paramagnetic point source.
Purpose: The study aimed to compare the clinical and radiologic results of pinning and modified Dunn procedure methods in stable-moderate slipped capital femoral epiphyses surgery.
Methods: Slipped capital femoral epiphyses cases between January 2000 and December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Stable and moderate cases treated with pinning or modified Dunn procedure and those with a follow-up period longer than 1 year were included.
For noninteracting particles confined in a constant volume, the temperature derivative of the local energy assumes negative values in thermodynamic equilibrium at low temperatures. This peculiar behavior may entail the misleading unphysical conclusion that the local heat capacity is negative. However, we show that temperature-dependent density variations of confined particles induce an energy selective particle transport within the domain, here called temperature-induced quantum migration.

Background: Our objectives were to determine 1) the prevalence and description of placental pathologic lesions in pregnancies complicated by SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to healthy controls and 2) whether the prevalence and/ or pattern of placental pathologic lesions differed in the few neonates who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the first 48 hours of life at a busy urban county hospital.
Methods: This study included all pregnant mothers who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 and delivered at our institution from March 2020 to June 2021, while control placentas were collected from term pregnancies without complications.
Results: Approximately 90% (n = 380/425) of placentas from pregnancies complicated by SARS-CoV-2 infections had placental pathologic lesions, compared to 32% (n = 16/50) of controls.

Assessing drought is crucial for effective water resources management and the development of mitigation strategies. Drought indices serve as indispensable tools in this evaluation process, and choosing an appropriate index is vital for accurate drought assessment. The characteristics and classification of drought depend entirely on the chosen index.

However, none of them reported a direct association between VP and spinal instability following fusion for degenerative lumbar spine disorders (DSDs), namely junctional disorders. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate whether the VP was predictive for junctional disorders in patients who underwent short-segment lumbar decompression and fusion for DSDs at a tertiary spine center.

This study aims to explore the potential association between plasma klotho levels and various prognostic outcomes in CKD and ESKD, including all-cause mortality, cardiovascular events, metabolic syndrome development and adverse renal events necessitating renal replacement therapies.
Methods: A literature search was conducted through 3 June 2024 using the electronic databases Cochrane Library, Ovid MEDLINE, CINAHL, Web of Science, SCOPUS and PubMed.
The pollution of wastewater with pharmaceuticals and endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in populated areas poses a growing threat to humans and ecosystems. To address this serious problem, various one-dimensional (1D) hierarchical ZnO-based nanostructures inspired by Anelosimus eximius cobwebs were developed and successfully grown on a glass substrate through simple hydrothermal synthesis. The nanorods (nr) obtained during primary growth were chemically etched with KOH (ZnO-KOH), followed by the secondary growth of nano cobweb-like (ncw) structures using polyethyleneimine (ZnO).

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate how stoma patients perceive their experiences living with a stoma.
Methods: The research is a descriptive study conducted with 42 patients who lived with a stoma for at least 3 months. Data were collected by a face-to-face interview method with a semi-structured form.
Heavy metal pollution, especially in freshwater, is a serious problem for aquatic organisms and human health. In this study, the scales of Capoeta capoeta living in the Karasu River (Turkey), which is estimated to be contaminated with pollutants, especially heavy metals, were examined for structural anomalies. Two stations on the river were selected for this purpose.

The essence of nursing is care and compassion. While there are studies on compassion in nursing care, nurses' self-compassion is an underrecognized concept in the literature.

Background: The physical, psychological, and social effects of the earthquake affect a person's functionality directly. It challenges individuals because it is often traumatizing, intense fear is experienced, and it is unpredictable, uncontrollable, and destructive. Nurses are one of the professional groups that have important duties in social disasters, and they are constantly exposed to the details of the traumatic situation, sometimes physically and sometimes by listening.
