A single-pulse imaging laser projection system (laser monitor) is proposed for real-time monitoring high-speed processes shielded by the intensive background lighting. The brightness temperature of the lighting can reach thousands or even tens of thousands of degrees, which makes it difficult to observe the processes with the naked eye. The estimates of limiting temperatures show that the use of the proposed instrument allows to view the objects when the equivalent brightness temperature of the background lighting is up to 45,000 K.

To estimate optimum gas discharge tube (GDT) electrode capacitance of metal vapor lasers (MVLs) pumped by a longitudinal capacitive discharge, we offer to use series connection of capacitors to the electrodes of a conventionally pumped GDT with inner electrodes. It has been demonstrated that the maximum output power in CuBr lasers is obtained when the capacitances of high-voltage and ground electrodes are equal. When using a model circuit an average output power reaches 12 W that suggests the possibility of generating high average output power (>10 W) in MVLs pumped using a capacitive discharge.

Results are submitted of employment of intraarterial superselective polychemotherapy in the treatment of malignant tumors of female genital organs in 106 patients; of these, forty individuals presented with carcinoma of the neck of the womb, 33 with tumours of the trophoblast, 18 had carcinoma of the ovaries, and 15 carcinoma of the body of the womb. A clinical analysis was done of the results obtained as were clinical-morphological correspondences (there has been studied a therapeutic pathomorphosis of the tumours) depending on the disease stage, individual schemes of polychemotherapy. The greatest benefit from the above treatment occurred in proliferative and invasive vascular mole and choriocarcinoma; patients with carcinoma of the neck and body of the womb derived less benefit, those with carcinoma of the ovaries experienced the least therapeutic effect.

The scientists studied work conditions of workers at KAMAZ plants. The studies covered the workers which are assigned to Registers 1 and 2 providing preferential pensions for hazardous and hard work conditions. Although being empirically formed, the Registers include workplaces which are similar in some characters.

Results of the use of polyplatillen--a preparation consisting of sodium nucleinate (deoxyribonucleic acid) and cisplatin combined in the saline balanced solution by means of the original technique--in cancer of the ovaries (198 patients), liver (62), pancreas (35), lungs (12), stomach (5) are presented. Clearly pronounced specific activity of the preparation developed is noted.

The regulations of functioning of water soluble and membrane forms of enzymes in the systems of reversed micelles of surfactants in organic solvents are compared. By an examples of gamma-glutamyltransferase (in AOT reversed micelles in octane) and amino-peptidase (in Brij 96 reversed micelles in cyclohexane) the principal difference in the catalytic activity regulation of water soluble and membrane forms is demonstrated. The catalytic activity of the membrane form depends largely on the surfactant concentration at the constant hydration degree, whereas the activity of the water soluble form is constant under these conditions.

Working under the occupational conditions of Gr. 3 of hazardness is a risk-factor with respect to the reproductive function in women. Working under such conditions before pregnancy and its early stages (before it was diagnosed) is fraught with complications for the pregnancy course and for the fetus.

Polychemotherapy supplemented by short-time artificial hyperglycemia was carried out in 54 patients with advanced ovarian cancer. For detoxication drugs were used in 27 patients and hemosorption in 27 patients. It was found that hemosorption produced a more detoxifying effect, reduces the frequency of severe complications and allows to improve long-term results.

In order to clarify the influence of induced hyperglycemia upon antitumor effects of chemotherapy we studied some animal and human tumors. We observed that hyperglycemia enhances the antitumor effects of some cytostatic drugs several fold, due in part to the changes in the microphysiology induced by the hyperglycemia. Time doubling of some transplanted rat tumors and survival time of rats, rabbits and dogs bearing the transplanted and spontaneous tumors increased two to ten fold when the chemotherapy was used under hyperglycemia.

A heterodimeric enzyme (gamma-glutamyltransferase) was studied in the reversed micellar medium of Aerosol OT (AOT) in octane. As was shown earlier, the size (radius) of inner cavity of the AOT-reversed micelles is determined by their hydration degree, i.e.

The paper is concerned with the results of CA-125 radioimmunoassay in 163 patients (584 tests) with benign and malignant ovarian diseases and other small pelvic diseases which were diagnosed before operation as ovarian tumors. CA-125 radioimmunoassay can be used in combination with other methods for investigation of patients with suspected ovarian cancer and for differential diagnosis of malignant ovarian tumors to distinguish them from other malignant tumors of the small pelvis. The total accuracy of the method, its sensitivity and specificity were 94.

Regulation mechanisms of the supramolecular structure and the catalytic activity of a heterodimeric enzyme, gamma-glutamyltransferase, in the system of Aerosol OT (AOT) reversed micelles in octane have been studied. gamma-(3-carboxy-4-nitro)-glutamic acid anilide (L- and D-isomers) and glycylglycine were used as substrates to explore the enzyme-catalyzed hydrolase, autotransferase, and transferase reactions. For all types of reactions, the catalytic activity of gamma-glutamyltransferase as a function of the hydration degree has a shape of curves with three optima.

Assays of urine-polyamine levels were run in 66 patients with ovarian tumors. The levels of polyamine excretion were found to be significantly higher in cases of malignant epithelial tumors than in control. In the course of effective therapy, polyamine concentration showed a sharp increase followed by a decrease in posttreatment period.

It was shown in experiments on albino rats that repeated exposure to an alternating field of 32 kA/m voltage leads to the reduction in the content of glycogen, lactic and pyruvic acid and the reduced form of nicotinamide coenzymes and to delayed processes of oxidation and phosphorylation without changing the degree of their coupling and the level of macroergic phosphates. An alternating magnetic field with a voltage of 7.5 kA/m leads to an increase in the level of glycogen and glutamine in half a month, causes accumulation of ammonia in three months, increases the content of glutamine and reduces the glucose level after six months of exposure.

The effect of magnetic field on biological systems is discussed. A number of existing theories are evaluated, and a conclusion is made that it is difficult to explain from the standpoint of physics, neglecting the specifies of the living cell, the effect of the constant magnetic field on biological systems at the microscopic level.
