The article discusses surgical treatment of 6 patients with injury inflicted to the femoral artery by the inguinal ligament in a blunt trauma of this region; they accounted for 1.4% of cases with blunt trauma of the femoral artery encountered by the author. The clinical signs of the trauma are described.

The authors generalized experience in the treatment of 32 patients with closed (in 7), puncture-incised (in 8) and iatrogenic (in 17) injuries to the iliac vessels. Three patients had a concurrent acute injury to the main arteries and veins, one patient had a posttraumatic arteriovenous fistula. Operations were performed on 29 persons: restorative operation on the main vessels in 21 and ligation of the vessels in 8 patients.

The article analyzes results of 95 operations in 71 patients with disturbed functions of the prosthesis implanted into the aorto-femoral segment. In thrombosis of the implanted prosthesis the authors prefer to fulfil thrombectomy with plasty of the distal anastomosis and the collateral with autotissues (a fragment of the vein or the non-functioning superficial femoral artery). Failure of thrombectomy from the prosthesis or recidivation of thrombus on the operative table should be considered as an indication for a substitution of the prosthesis.

The investigation of protocols of medicolegal examinations of victims of injuries of major blood vessels has shown that traumas of the neck vessels equal 8,8%. The clinical observation of 27 patients with injured vessels of the neck shows that the selection of correct methods of temporary arrest of hemorrhage at the place of the accident can save most victims, life. The main cause of death in such cases in ischemia of the brain, hemorrhagic shock, associated trauma of organs of the neck.

On the basis of examining 42 patients, the possibilities of the timely diagnosis and surgical treatment of aortic aneurysms are discussed. The importance of the X-ray examination in the diagnosis of aneurysms of the abdominal and thoracic portions of the aorta is emphasized. Results of the treatment of injuries of vessels in 29 children are described. Associated injuries of arteries, veins, nerves, tendons and bones were predominant (in 18 children). Most of the patients were subjected to restorative operations on main arteries: end-to-end anastomoses (7), lateral suture (6), autovenous prosthesis and shunting (7).

The treatment of 14 patients with small-shot wounds of large blood vessels is analyzed. The specific features of such injuries are described and reasons of diagnostic errors at the stage of evacuation to a specialized department are found out. The use of reconstructive operations favoured the recovery of adequate arterial flow in 10 patients.
