[Diagnostic and treatment patterns in management of male patients with nongonococcal urethritis: results of Russian multicentral cross-sectional study].

The aim of the study was to estimate the diagnostic and treatment patterns in the management of acute nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) in males in some cities of Russia. Retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted in 2009 in 5 centers of 4 cities in the Central Part of Russia (Kaluga, Pskov, Smolensk - 2 centres and Tula). The data on the diagnostic and treatment approaches to the management of NGU in male subjects >16 years old were collected and analyzed with the use of specially designed case report forms.

Relationship between proliferation of Ehrlich ascitic tumor cells and status of the chalone system under conditions of modified photoregimen.

The effects of permanent darkness on proliferation of Ehrlich ascitic tumor cells and status of the chalone system in the tumor were studied. Chalone-containing preparations from animals exposed to different light conditions exhibited different biological effects on cell proliferation in this tumor. A relationship between biological activity of chalone-containing preparations and sensitivity of tumor cells to these preparations under conditions of modified photoregimen was revealed.

Ultradian biorhythms of cell proliferation.

We studied circadian and ultradian rhythms of mitotic index of epithelial cells of the esophagus, intestine, and dorsal surface of the tongue, and thymocytes from mice maintained at normal and inverted light regimens. It was shown that in normal animals, the period of ultradian oscillations was shorter during the active circadian phase compared to the passive phase. Photoinversion changed the correlation between ultradian oscillations of the mitotic index and its circadian phases, which was differently pronounced in various tissues.

[Model of "standing water" of Baikalian phytoplankton interannual dynamics].

A "standing waves" model is presented which is based on the idea that an energy impulse accumulated from the spring bloom outburst of phytoplankton moves along a food chains. When its "echo" comes back, it generates a new bloom outburst, and a next cycle occurs. It is supposed that the resonance of self-supporting oscillations in populations with periodic solar influences led to standing waves, which provide for biosystem stability and cyclic recurrence of phytoplankton bloom.

[The participation of dermatologists-venereologists in the detection and prevention of human immunodeficiency virus infection].

The authors analyze the cases with a sexual transmission of human immunodeficiency virus and with infection transmission from the infected mother to the fetus.

[The use of a heparin ointment in combination with dimexide in treating psoriasis].

Thirty-five male patients with psoriasis en plaques, persisting for 2-5 years, resistant to routine therapy, were treated with official heparin ointment with 15% dimexide under an occlusion dressing. Positive results were achieved in 41.2 +/- 5.

[Dermatologic pathology in chronic alcoholics].

A total of 1159 chronic alcoholics, treated at narcology departments, have been screened for dermatologic diseases. The reference group consisted of 2735 subjects matched for age and working conditions, but not abusing alcohol. Skin diseases have been detected in 43% of alcoholic patients; this is almost 5 times more that in the reference group.
