Inflamed bilateral linear atrophoderma of Moulin in an adult woman: a case report.

Linear atrophoderma of Moulin (LAM) is a rare dermatosis characterized by a hyperpigmented atrophoderma that follows Blaschko's lines, with onset usually occurring during childhood and adolescence. LAM is an etiologically unknown form of dermal atrophy. It is generally characterized by oval or round atrophic, nonsclerotic, hyperpigmented patches following Blaschko's lines.

25-hydroxyvitamin D status in patients with alopecia areata.

Introduction: Alopecia areata (AA) is a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease that causes inflammation around anagen-phase hair follicles. Insufficient levels of vitamin D have been implicated in a variety of autoimmune diseases.

Aim: To investigate the status of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) in patients with AA, serum 25(OH)D concentrations were compared between AA patients and healthy controls and thus determine if a possible association exists between serum 25(OH)D levels and AA.

A rare clinical manifestation of spinulate demodicosis.

Demodicosis is a chronic skin disease caused by Demodex mites such as Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis. Demodex mites live in pilosebaceous units and they are regarded as a part of the normal skin flora. Nevertheless, it has been suggested that the presence of five or more mites per cm² by the standardized skin surface biopsy technique could be considered as pathogenic.

Simple, easy, and still effective treatment option in severe rhinophyma: shave and paste.

A 74-year-old man suffering from severe rhinophyma with breathing difficulty and depression seeking for help presented to our clinic. The cauliflower-like mass was full thickness excised and a full thickness skin graft from right inguinal region was applied. An exceptionally treatment and satisfactory cosmetic result was obtained in single stage.

[Newborn with genital interlabial mass with spontaneous resolution: case report].

Interlabial masses of newborns are rare issues that fall into the interest of pediatricians, pediatric surgeons, urologists, dermatologists and gynecologists. The most common are the hymenal cysts and paraurethral gland cysts. Several interlabial masses, including those of embryological origin, ectopic tissue, prolapse, urological anomaly, or neoplasia, can superficially resemble simple cysts.

Hair loss in children can have psychologic effects that interfere with a child's growth and development. In our case series, we evaluated 1003 children aged 0 months to 17 years who presented to the pediatric and dermatology outpatient clinics at Fatih University, Ankara, Turkey, from December 2009 through October 2010. The patients were routinely examined for scalp disorders and hair loss.

Terminal hematuria associated with oral isotretinoin treatment in a patient with acne vulgaris.

Hematuria is defined as the abnormal presence of red blood cells in the urine and is commonly divided into gross and microscopic hematuria. Terminal hematuria occurs at the end of the urine stream and may have a prostatic, bladder, or trigonal cause. Here, we present a 16-year-old boy who developed terminal hematuria after 1 month of treatment with isotretinoin for acne vulgaris.

Preauricular sinus, nephrolithiasis, infantine eczema and natal tooth: a new association.

Preauricular sinuses (ear pits) are common congenital abnormalities. The incidence of preauricular sinus is widely varied. Usually asymptomatic, they manifest as small hollows adjacent to the external ear near the anterior margin of the ascending limb of the helix, most frequently on the right side.
