Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of bilateral inferior petrosal sinus sampling (BIPSS) in diagnosing and localizing pituitary adenomas in children with Cushing disease (CD), compared to MRI.
  • Conducted as a nationwide, retrospective analysis of 16 pediatric patients, the research found that BIPSS had significantly higher sensitivity and accuracy than MRI in detecting CD and determining adenoma location.
  • The results indicate that BIPSS is a superior diagnostic tool for confirming CD and may aid in surgical planning due to its better performance in localizing tumors within the pituitary gland.
