Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effects of isolated phlebectomy on patients with incompetent great saphenous veins and the recurrence of varicose veins after one year.
  • A total of 67 patients were analyzed, showing that 66% of the veins were competent one year post-surgery, with significant reductions in vein diameter regardless of reflux status.
  • Recurrence of varicose veins occurred in 13.5% of cases, indicating that the ASVAL procedure could be a less aggressive treatment option, but clear guidelines are needed for its use.
