The southern region of the Paria Peninsula shows a high malaria incidence. This work relates the abundances of cyclopoid species and the malaria vector Anopheles aquasalis to certain abiotic parameters and vegetation features. Samples were collected over a 4-month period in several habitats, including marsh, irrigation channel, lagoon, and mangrove swamp during the wet season and the wet-dry transition.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Evelyn Zoppi de Roa"

  • - Evelyn Zoppi de Roa's research focuses on the ecological relationships between cyclopoid copepods and malaria vectors, specifically examining how certain habitat features affect the presence of these organisms in vector-rich areas.
  • - A key study conducted in the Paria Peninsula of Venezuela highlights the correlation between the abundance of cyclopoid species and the malaria vector Anopheles aquasalis in relation to abiotic factors and vegetation characteristics.
  • - The research underscores the importance of understanding habitat dynamics, particularly in wetland ecosystems, to address malaria transmission risks effectively in regions with high incidence rates.
