Chronic kidney disease of unknown cause in Mexico: The case of Poncitlan, Jalisco.

Chronic kidney disease of unknown cause (CKDu) is relatively common in low- and middle-income countries. A high prevalence of CKDu has been reported among the inhabitants of Poncitlan, Mexico. We did a cross-sectional study to compare the characteristics of residents in Poncitlan, a very poor municipality, with those from other municipalities in Jalisco state.
