The pandemic of SARS-CoV-2 is characterized by the emergence of new variants of concern (VOCs) that supplant previous waves of infection. Here, we describe our investigation of the lineages and host-specific mutations identified in a particularly vulnerable population of predominantly older and immunosuppressed SARS-CoV-2-infected patients seen at our medical center in Chicago during the transition from the Delta to Omicron wave. We compare two primer schemes, ArticV4.

Here, we describe a cohort of 102 subjects (70 COVID-19-naïve, 32 COVID-19-experienced) who received two doses of one of the mRNA vaccines (BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) and mRNA-1273 (Moderna)). We document that a single exposure to antigen via infection or vaccination induces a variable antibody response which is affected by age, gender, race, and co-morbidities.

Vaccines that elicit protective immunity have reduced infection and mortality, however new viral variants are arising that may evade vaccine-induced immunity or cause disease in individuals who are unable to develop robust vaccine-induced responses. Investigating the role of viral variants in causing severe disease, evading vaccine-elicited immunity, and infecting vulnerable individuals is important for developing strategies to control the pandemic.

Materials And Methods: Of 2832 patients included in ORACUL 1 and ORACUL 2 multicenter observational trials 512 pts who developed premature ACS (≤55 years for men, ≤60 years for women) and had known family history and LDL level were selected for this study. Of these patients 297 had positive family history (51 with FH, 246 no FH), 215 had negative family history.
Purpose: to analyze possible associations of clinical and genetic factors with development of ischemic stroke after exacerbation of ischemic heart disease (IHD).
Materials And Methods: The Russian multicenter study aimed at assessment of risk of unfavorable outcomes after exacerbation of IHD "Exacerbation of IHD: logical probabilistic ways to course prognostication for optimization of treatment" (meaning of Cyrillic acronym - oracle) was conducted in 16 centers of 7 cities in Russia. We included into the study 1 208 patients with unstable angina and ST-elevation or non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (MI).
There are several stratification scales of major cardiovascular events rate for patients have gone through acute coronary syndrome (ACS). None of them is perfect one. Arterial hypertension is included into some scales for post ACS patients but the features of it and its impact on coronary artery disease after ACS have never studied before.

The study involved 1145 patients hospitalized in cardiology clinics of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Chelyabinsk, Perm, Stavropol, and Rostov-on-Don because of acute ischemic heart disease.

Patients (n=272) were included on day 10 after onset of acute coronary syndrome. No relationship between studied outcomes and cystatin was found in a group as a whole.

The equation allows differentiation of intervals with different values of kinetic characteristics. Analytical expressions were found for coefficients of the model and interval boundaries with the kinetics of growth and die-off of microbes.

We have investigated contribution of levels of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and genetic factors in the risk of development of complications of atherosclerosis in patients who have had acute coronary syndrome. We started to follow 324 patients on day 10 of stable state after acute coronary syndrome (55.

Ten HPAI/H5N1 strains deposited at the State Collection of Viruses of the Russian Federation with the priority dated December 1, 2005 were isolated from the cloacal/tracheal swabs and viscera of sick and freshly died mute swans. Complete nucleotide sequences of all fragments of the genome of 6 strains have been deposited in the Gene Bank.

PPAR alpha is a key regulator of fatty acid beta-oxidation, participates in development of inflammatory reaction and atherosclerosis formation. Main effects of fibrates are mediated through PPAR alpha activation.

To achieve the aims of the project, the following stages were consecutively defined: (1) the exchange of syringes, organized by outreach workers, with the simultaneous popularization of the project, (2) the orientation of intravenous drug users to attending syringe exchange stations and (3) the extension of the area covered by the activities of outreach workers. Our experience showed that outreach workers, especially those working in the street, were the main force to count on for achieving success in the work of the projects. The budget of the project should provide for the publication of information material.

Bacteria isolated from microbiocenoses subjected to the action of chemical extreme factors (hydrogen peroxide, catalytically active minerals) were shown to be most resistant among soil heterotrophic bacteria. Cells in the resting state caused by dehydration survived better than vegetative cells.
