Aim: The sympathetic nervous and hormonal counterregulatory responses to hypoglycaemia differ between people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes and may change along the course of diabetes, but have not been directly compared. We aimed to compare counterregulatory hormone and symptom responses to hypoglycaemia between people with type 1 diabetes, insulin-treated type 2 diabetes and controls without diabetes, using a standardised hyperinsulinaemic-hypoglycaemic clamp.
Materials: We included 47 people with type 1 diabetes, 15 with insulin-treated type 2 diabetes, and 32 controls without diabetes.

Purpose: The objective of this study is to review the accuracy of an augmented reality navigational guidance system designed to facilitate improved visualization, guidance, and accuracy during percutaneous needle-based procedures including biopsies and ablations.
Approach: Using the HoloLens 2, the system registers and projects 3D CT-based models of segmented anatomy along with live ultrasound, fused with electromagnetically tracked instruments including ultrasound probes and needles, giving the operator comprehensive stereoscopic visualization for intraoperative planning and navigation during procedures.Tracked needles were guided to targets implanted in a cadaveric model using the system.
Objective: To study the primary objective of clinical pregnancy (CP) rate per ovarian stimulation with intrauterine insemination (OS-IUI) treatment cycle in patients with repetitive cycles up to a maximum of 8 cycles.
Design: Retrospective cohort.
Setting: Large fertility clinic.
Aim: This study aimed to describe nurse/midwife educators' understanding and enactment of teaching family planning methods with nursing/midwifery students in educational programs in Rwanda. More precisely, the aim of this study was to generate a substantive theory that explains how nurse/midwife educators introduce family planning methods into their teaching practice to facilitate learning among nurse/midwife students in Rwanda.
Background: High maternal mortality remains a global health issue.
Introduction: People with type 2 diabetes (T2D) have a higher risk of stroke and worse outcomes than those without T2D. Pooled data from randomized controlled trials indicate that the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist semaglutide is associated with stroke risk reduction in people with T2D at high cardiovascular risk. We compared real-world stroke risk in people with T2D or T2D plus atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) initiating either semaglutide or a dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitor (DPP4i).

Study findings should apply to all members of the population without selection bias. The authors detail the multiple approaches to ensuring representativeness that were developed in the HANDLS study.

We undertook a secondary analysis of postprandial glucose excursions from two double-blind, randomized, crossover hybrid closed-loop studies contrasting Fiasp to standard insulin aspart, and Lyumjev to standard insulin lispro. Endpoints included incremental area under curve (iAUC)-2h, iAUC-4h, 4 h postprandial time in target range, time above range, and time below range.

Participants (N=1,062) completed a comprehensive personality questionnaire and were administered a brief mental status screener of cognitive errors. Higher neuroticism was associated with more cognitive errors, whereas higher openness and conscientiousness were associated with fewer errors.

There are currently few strategies available to help mitigate effects arising from high-sulfate water (HS). The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of feeding a moderate-forage diet with or without bismuth subsalicylate (BSS; 0.

Consumers' perception of the word 'healthy' is also changing to reflect longer life span, need to stay active and in a good state of mental well-being while managing multiple diseases. Guidelines from the US Food and Drug Administration indicate that substantiating evidence for support of Structure/Function (S/F) claims for dietary supplements is best derived from clinical research conducted in a 'healthy' population.

However, research on the neuropsychological development of this patient population has been limited over the past 10 years.
Methods: We performed a retrospective study to evaluate the neurodevelopmental functioning of infants/toddlers with kidney failure who completed the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development (3rd and 4th Edition) as part of a pretransplant evaluation between 2010 and 2022 (n = 23; M = 18 months, SD = 8.
"Corymbiform" is a term found in medical literature as early as 1876 to describe a central larger lesion with smaller surrounding lesions, leading to the appearance of an irregular border. While the term in current medical literature most often describes a possible morphology of secondary syphilis, the authors have noted this pattern presenting in other cutaneous conditions. We present a commentary on the corymbiform pattern in dermatology including a series of photographs of cutaneous disorders presenting in a corymbiform morphology in pediatric patients.

We reviewed relevant documents from new drug applications (NDA) of FDA-approved antibiotics from 2014-2019 for the above indications. Murine neutropenic thigh infection models supported the choice of a pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PKPD) target in 11/12 NDAs reviewed.

We conducted an observational cohort study from August 2017 through May 2021, the MOUD Study, to better understand treatment engagement and factors that may influence treatment experiences and outcomes.

This study examines the relationship between adolescent school connectedness and e-cigarette susceptibility in a diverse longitudinal sample. This secondary analysis of a school-based intervention surveyed 608 middle (66%) and high school (34%) students from 10 schools at 3 time points over 1 year.
