In designing and implementing initiatives to conserve biodiversity and ensure the flow of ecosystem services, it is crucial to understand the perspectives of communities living near protected areas. Improving conservation efforts may depend on analyzing socio-ecological factors and their impact on Local Ecological Knowledge (LEK) and perceptions of ecosystem services. We employed participatory methodologies with 80 farmers from agrarian settlements adjacent to protected areas in the Cerrado biome, Brazil, we quantified LEK and assessed perceptions of ecosystem services using an adaptation of the Q-methodology.

However, effective strategies that respond to the needs of socially frail older adults are lacking and few studies have unpacked how social determinants operate or how interventions can be adapted during periods requiring social distancing and isolation such as the COVID-19 pandemic. To address these gaps, we conducted a scoping review using JBI methodology to identify interventions that have the best potential to help socially frail older adults (age ≥65 years).

The clinical presentation of CAEs related to anticancer treatments can vary. The purpose of our study is to characterize skin toxicities during oncological treatments, manage such adverse events to improve patients' quality of life, and ensure therapeutic adherence.

Hydrogel characterization consisted of assessing morphology via SEM, composition via EDS, hydrogels' network components interactions via FT-IR and pH response through swelling behavior determinations. The swelling characterization of the synthesized hydrogels demonstrated a pH-responsive behavior, showing that low pH values caused the hydrogel polymeric network to expand and capture more of the aqueous solution.

During this period, the effect of the relieved anthropogenic activities on the environment was plainly clear all over the country. Herein, we provide the first evidence of the lockdown effects on riverine dissolved organic matter (DOM) dynamics.

Neutrophil-derived free DNA, released in the form of extracellular traps (NETs), significantly correlates with impaired lung function in patients with CF, underlying their pathogenetic role in CF lung disease. Thus, specific approaches to control NETosis of neutrophils migrated into the lungs may be clinically relevant in CF.

The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in female patients with psoriasis and to assess the possible correlation of sexual dysfunction with disease severity, genital involvement, age and some comorbidities.
Methods: In this prospective case-control study, all female patients with psoriasis followed at three Psoriasis Outpatient Services were divided into two groups depending on psoriasis severity assessed by the Psoriasis Area Severity Index.
Diffuse alveolar haemorrhage related to an anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated small vessel vasculitis is an extremely rare form of presentation of breast cancer. Here we report the case of a 77-year-old woman with a histological diagnosis of a papillary ductal carcinoma of the breast presenting with a diffuse alveolar haemorrhage secondary to a perinuclear ANCA-associated vasculitis. To our knowledge, this is the first case ever reported of a diffuse alveolar haemorrhage related to an ANCA-associated small vessel vasculitis as a form of presentation of breast cancer.

Acquired tense acral bullae and fixed urticarial annular lesions on the trunk are diagnostic clues of infantile BP. Diagnosis is supported by immunosorbent assay (IgG anti-BP180 and BP230) and direct immunofluorescence (linear deposition of IgG at the dermo-epidermal junction).

Of particular importance is the evaluation of ocular torsion and nystagmus, which can be sensitive for central vestibular pathology, but easily missed by the untrained eye. We present two cases of acute vestibular syndrome of central origin in which the use of magnified fundoscopy at the bedside aided the precise anatomical diagnosis to inform appropriate further management.

Treatment can be both medical and surgical, and be provided by a healthcare provider or by the patient. Cryotherapy (CRYO) is among the most common treatments for AGW.
