Background: The increasing awareness of the emotional consequences of emergency cesarean deliveries (C-sections) highlights their substantial role in fostering postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to evaluate the prevalence and determinants of PTSD following emergency C-sections, as well as the implications of these events on maternal mental health and welfare.
Methods: Undertaking extensive searches of Scopus, PubMed, PsycINFO, and Google Scholar, we have incorporated studies published from 2013 onwards that examined the occurrence of PTSD following emergency C-sections.
Ten percent of children with cancer harbour a mutation in a predisposition gene. In children with the kidney cancer, Wilms tumour, the prevalence is as high as 30%. Certain predispositions are associated with defined histological and clinical features, suggesting differences in tumourigenesis.

While many studies globally investigate factors affecting breastfeeding, there is a scarcity of research focusing on marginalized groups, particularly the Roma community. This study seeks to compare the breastfeeding rates of Roma and non-Roma mothers upon discharge from a maternity hospital in Greece.

These effects can be attributed to the infection's effects on the mother and foetus.
Aim: The aim of this research was to investigate the probability of vertical transmission of COVID-19 from the pregnant mother to the foetus.
Background/objectives: Failure to thrive (FTT) is mostly caused by insufficient consumption of nutrient-rich food, recurrent infections like diarrhea and intestinal worms, substandard caregiving practices, and limited availability of health and other vital services. Furthermore, there was a correlation between the educational level of mothers and the occurrence of FTT in children aged 6-12 months. Thus, the objective of the current research is twofold: (i) to investigate other factors related to FTT and (ii) to evaluate the impact of them on FTT in Sub-Saharan African countries and their urban areas.

Covid-19 pandemic brought new unprecedented living conditions that raised the rates of DV during pregnancy. Investigating the association between Covid-19 and DV in pregnant women may help government and community groups seeking to reduce DV/IPV in vulnerable populations in order to better understand the prevalence of this phenomenon and its associated factors and thus find ways to ensure control and stop domestic violence, as the society and health care systems are still disorganized in the way they deal with the DV against pregnant women.

Objectives: 1,3-Butadiene (BD) exposure's link to leukemia is under regulatory scrutiny. The assessment methods for BD exposure risks have evolved from early animal and limited human studies to advanced exposure-response modelling with comprehensive quantitative data. The objec- tive of this study is to explore the nuances of exposure-response modelling, investigating how various statistical methods have influenced the quan- tification of exposure-response relationships.

Background: The aim of this study is to investigate healthcare professionals' attitudes and practices when it comes to their recommendations on exercise during the first trimester of pregnancy and to highlight the factors that influence or predict these attitudes.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted between January 2022 and March 2023, on a sample of 237 Greek healthcare professionals (midwives and obstetricians) employed in healthcare settings in Attica/Greece. In the statistical analysis, eight independent models of multivariate analyses of variance were conducted.
Breast milk is a unique and highly beneficial source of nutrition for infants. It contains a wide range of nutrients that are specifically tailored to meet the specific needs of a growing infant. On the other hand, obesity is a major health issue that affects people around the world.

Although t-MN can occur both in adult and childhood cancer survivors, the mechanisms driving therapy-related leukemogenesis likely vary across different ages. Chemotherapy is thought to induce driver mutations in children, whereas in adults pre-existing mutant clones are selected by the exposure.

Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study conducted from July to November 2021. A total of 151 new mothers of infants aged 6-12 months participated.
Background: Exposure to poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) may affect infant and childhood health through immunosuppression. However, the findings of epidemiological literature examining relationships between prenatal/childhood PFAS exposure and vaccine response and infection in humans are still inconclusive. The aim of this review was to examine the effects of PFAS exposure on vaccine antibody response and infection in humans.

Methods: The study was conducted in one of the largest public hospitals in Attica that provides care to pregnant women, enrolling 380 participants divided into high-risk ( = 200) and low-risk ( = 180) cohorts. Data were collected over 20 months (starting from the end of May 2020 until January 2022), spanning from pregnancy to six months postpartum, via comprehensive questionnaires.
Background: Healthcare professionals appear to play a key role in shaping pregnant women's views and attitudes towards lifestyle issues, such as exercise. The aim of this study is to investigate the views and beliefs of Greek midwives and obstetricians regarding exercise during pregnancy.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted during the period of January 2022-March 2023.
Background: Few studies have correlated maternal and neonatal Vit D (25(OH)D) levels at birth in Greece. We investigated this potential association, taking into account the administration or not of low doses (400-800 IU) of prenatal Vit D supplements. Our study contributes evidence not only to the small amount of existing literature regarding the above correlation, but also to the topic of maternal and neonatal vitamin D deficiency (VDD) during pregnancy in Mediterranean countries, such as Greece.

The midwifery psychoeducation, relationship with the midwives, feelings from the surgery, and delivery expectations are major factors that affect the birth experiences of mothers following an emergency cesarean section. This study aimed to give voice to mothers to express the feelings they had before, during, and after an emergency cesarean section and primarily to express whether their expectations were met after the surgery. The research was conducted on mothers who gave birth through an emergency cesarean section in a public hospital by completing specific questionnaires.

Few studies evaluated maternal vitamin D deficiency (VDD) with neonatal anthropometrics such as weight, height and head circumference (HC), especially in Greece, which is a Mediterranean country with plenty of sunshine and consequently benefits the synthesis of 25(OH)D. We investigated this potential association in Greece, taking into account the administration or not of prenatal vitamin D supplements.

Ankyloglossia, commonly referred to as tongue-tie, brings about functional difficulties and, in some cases, may lead to early weaning. It is crucial to use breastfeeding as the exclusive food source for the first six months of an infant's life, and the interference of the tongue contributes substantially to success in this regard.
