Furthermore, the normal epithelial architecture is disorganized with numerous, what we here describe as, ectopic goblet cells (eGC) deep within the thickened epithelial layer disconnected from the lumenal surface. mTOR is a highly conserved pathway that regulates cell size and proliferation.
