Spontaneous intrauterine rupture of the umbilical cord is an uncommon and dangerous complication during delivery. We describe a case of a 27-year-old woman with a normal pregnancy. When the membranes broke, the fetal heart sounds suddenly disappeared, and the vaginal bleeding was heavier than normal.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the indications for cesarean sections in the early 1990s as compared to the middle 2000s.
