An original method based on LC-MS for determination of the flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in air is presented, as an alternative to the traditionally used GC-MS. The soft ionization in LC-MS makes it possible to monitor the intact molecule and to use 13C-labelled TBBPA as an internal surrogate standard, two features that improve both accuracy and precision of the analyses. Comparison of different acquisition modes in electrospray ionization showed that the lowest detections limit, 3.

Capillary columns, retention gaps and press-fit connectors, as well as different injection techniques have been evaluated with respect to yield and repeatability. The split/splitless injection has been optimized and compared to on-column injection, the septum equipped temperature programmable injector (SPI) and the programmable temperature vaporizing (PTV) injector.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA new system for extracting solid samples based on dynamic sonication-assisted solvent extraction (DSASE) is described. The technique is highly efficient with respect to both time and solvent consumption. In tests reported here, organophosphate esters were extracted from air sampling filters in 3 min with an extraction volume of 600 microL of solvent.
