Enhanced Hydrogen Evolution Performance at the Lateral Interface between Two Layered Materials Predicted with Machine Learning.

While economical and effective catalysts are required for sustainable hydrogen production, low-dimensional interfacial engineering techniques have been developed to improve the catalytic activity in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In this study, we used density functional theory (DFT) calculations to measure the Gibbs free energy change (Δ) in hydrogen adsorption in two-dimensional lateral heterostructures (LHSs) MX/M'X' (MoS/WS, MoS/WSe, MoSe/WS, MoSe/WSe, MoTe/WSe, MoTe/WTe, and WS/WSe) and MX/M'X' (NbS/ZnO, NbSe/ZnO, NbS/GaN, MoS/ZnO, MoSe/ZnO, MoS/AlN, MoS/GaN, and MoSe/GaN) at several different positions near the interface. Compared to the interfaces of LHS MX/M'X' and the surfaces of the monolayer MX and MX, the interfaces of LHS MX/M'X' display greater hydrogen evolution reactivity due to their metallic behavior.

Long-Term Follow-Up of Intensive Integrative Treatment including Motion Style Acupuncture Treatment (MSAT) in Hospitalized Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation: An Observational Study.

This study aimed to investigate the long-term effects of and satisfaction with integrative Korean medicine treatment and motion style acupuncture treatment (MSAT) in patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH). We retrospectively analyzed medical charts and prospectively surveyed adult patients aged between 19 and 64 years treated for lumbar disc herniation for at least 6 days at three Korean hospitals from 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2020. The primary outcome was the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) for back pain.

Prediction of dielectric constants of ABO-type perovskites using machine learning and first-principles calculations.

In this study, the machine-learning method, combined with density functional perturbation theory (DFPT) calculations, was implemented to predict and validate the dielectric constants of ABO-type perovskites. For the construction of the training database, the dielectric constants of 7113 inorganic materials were extracted from the Materials Project. The chemical, structural, and physical descriptors were generated and trained using the gradient-boosting-based regressor after feature engineering.

Sex differences in the genetic architecture of depression.

The prevalence and clinical characteristics of depressive disorders differ between women and men; however, the genetic contribution to sex differences in depressive disorders has not been elucidated. To evaluate sex-specific differences in the genetic architecture of depression, whole exome sequencing of samples from 1000 patients (70.7% female) with depressive disorder was conducted.

Longitudinal Impact of Depression on Quality of Life in Stroke Patients.

Objective: Stroke is associated with significant long-term morbidity and poor quality of life (QOL). Depression is one of the most common complications after stroke and has been associated with QOL cross-sectionally. We investigated the longitudinal impact of depression in the acute phase of stroke on QOL 1 year after stroke.
