The gut microbiome significantly influences immune responses and the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors. We conducted a clinical trial (NCT04264975) combining an anti-programmed death-1 (PD-1) inhibitor with fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) from anti-PD-1 responder in 13 patients with anti-PD-1-refractory advanced solid cancers. Methods: Newly developed multi-spectral fluorescence endoscope device has the potential to eliminate signal interference due to autofluorescence and multiplex fluorophores in fluorescent probes. The multiplexing capability of the multi-spectral endoscope device was demonstrated in the phantom studies and multi-spectral imaging with endoscopy and macroscopy was performed to analyze fluorescence signals after administration of fluorescent probe that targets cancer in the colon.
Owing to the recent progress in regenerative medicine technology, clinical trials that harnessed the regeneration and immune modulation potentiality of stem cells for treating IBD have shown promising results. When administered orally (250~1,000 mg/kg body weight), Keumsa Linteusan significantly inhibited the growth of solid colon cancer. The highest dose was highly effective, reducing tumor formation by 26% compared with the control group.

The SLC6A19 is a human homolog of B(0)AT1 that encodes a neutral amino acid transporter. We examined the distribution of VNTR (variable number of tandem repeats; minisatellites) and conducted polymorphic analysis of SCL6A19 isolated from the genomic DNA of controls and multi-generational families. The SLC6A19 was found to contain seven blocks of minisatellites, 3 of which (SLC6A19-MS1, -MS4, and -MS7) showed polymorphism and were found to be transmitted through meiosis following Mendelian inheritance in seven families.
