Cross-linked polymeric networks that possess tunable properties and degrade on-demand have broad applications in today's society. Herein, we report on silyl-containing poly(urethane) (silyl-PU) thermoset networks, which are highly cross-linked stimuli-responsive materials with hydrolytic stability at 37.7 °C and 95% relative humidity, thermal stability of 280-311.

The results provide a greater understanding of stability and kinetics for silyl-containing protecting groups that eliminate volatile molecules upon removal, which will allow for simplification of orthogonal protection in complex organic molecules.

With the goal of developing new, selective, resistance-breaking insecticides we explored α-fluorinated methyl ketones as reversible covalent inhibitors of Anopheles gambiae acetylcholinesterase (AgAChE). Trifluoromethyl ketones 5 demonstrated remarkable volatility in microtiter plate assays, but 5c,e-h exhibited potent (1-100 nM) inhibition of wild type (WT) AgAChE and weak inhibition of resistant mutant G119S mutant AgAChE.
