The purpose of this study was to continuously monitor the pseudopolymorphic transition from anhydrate to monohydrate by measuring the NMR relaxation using time-domain NMR (TD-NMR). Taking advantage of the simplicity of the low-field NMR instrument configuration, which is an advantage of TD-NMR, the NMR instrument was connected to a humidity controller to monitor the pseudopolymorphic transition. First, ezetimibe (EZT) monohydrate was prepared from its anhydrate using a saturated salt solution method, and T relaxation of EZT monohydrate and anhydrate was measured without a humidity controller.

Background: Canine Legg Calvé Perthes disease (LCPD) occurs during the growth period, and the cause of ischemic necrosis of the femoral head during growth remains unclear. If LCPD-affected femoral head-derived mesenchymal stem cells (LCPD-MSCs) can be generated, they can be used as a new tool for the pathophysiological analysis of canine LCPD.

Aim: To generate affected femoral head-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from dogs with LCPD and investigate the mRNA expression levels of angiogenesis-related factors and osteogenic differentiation potency of LCPD-MSCs.

Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related diseaseis a systemic inflammatory condition of unknown etiology characterized by increases in serum IgG4 and in the number of IgG4-positive cells in affected tissues. One of the commonly involved locations is the pancreas; this condition is known as type 1 autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP). Type 1 AIP, which shows a biliary stricture in the intrapancreatic bile duct, can be misdiagnosed as a malignancy due to similar cholangiography findings and clinical presentation.

Aims: The popularity of B-line-guided congestion assessment by lung ultrasound (LUS) has been increasing. However, the ability of novice residents to detect residual congestion with B-line-guided assessment by LUS after decongestion treatment is poorly understood. In this study, we investigated whether novice residents (no prior echocardiography experience) can acquire the skills for B-line-guided residual congestion assessment and whether the range of variation in assessment is acceptable in actual clinical use.

The bottom-up reconstitution of proteins for their modular engineering into synthetic cellular systems can reveal hidden protein functions in vitro. This is particularly evident for the bacterial Min proteins, a paradigm for self-organizing reaction-diffusion systems that displays an unexpected functionality of potential interest for bioengineering: the directional active transport of any diffusible cargo molecule on membranes. Here, the MinDE protein system is reported as a versatile surface patterning tool for the rational design of synthetically assembled 3D systems.

Recent studies have demonstrated that epigenetic modifications are deeply involved in neurogenesis; however, the precise mechanisms remain largely unknown. To determine the role of UTX (also known as KDM6A), a demethylase of histone H3K27, in neural development, we generated Utx-deficient mice in neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs). Since Utx is an X chromosome-specific gene, the genotypes are sex-dependent; female mice lose both Utx alleles (Utx ), and male mice lose one Utx allele yet retain one Uty allele, the counterpart of Utx on the Y chromosome (Utx ).

Background: Breastfeeding in the early postpartum period is expected to have mental benefits for mothers; however, the underlying psychobiological mechanisms remain unclear. Previously, we hypothesized that the release of oxytocin in response to the suckling stimuli during breastfeeding would mediate a calming effect on primiparous mothers, and we examined salivary oxytocin measurements in primiparous mothers at postpartum day 4 using saliva samples without extraction, which was erroneous. Thus, further confirmation of this hypothesis with a precise methodology was needed.

The integration of active cell machinery with synthetic building blocks is the bridge toward developing synthetic cells with biological functions and beyond. Self-replication is one of the most important tasks of living systems, and various complex machineries exist to execute it. In Escherichia coli, a contractile division ring is positioned to mid-cell by concentration oscillations of self-organizing proteins (MinCDE), where it severs membrane and cell wall.
