Article Synopsis
  • Helium diffusion and bubble dynamics are modeled using the finite element method, refining previous models to simplify calculations and improve efficiency.
  • A parametric study explores how temperature (from 120 K to 1200 K) and helium flux impact bubble density, size, and overall helium inventory in the material.
  • Results show that bubble size increases over time following a power law, bubble density peaks at a certain level, and the model's predictions align well with experimental data.

A parametric study is performed with the 2D FESTIM code for the ITER monoblock geometry. The influence of the monoblock surface temperature, the incident ion energy and particle flux on the monoblock hydrogen inventory is investigated. The simulated data is analysed with a Gaussian regression process and an inventory map as a function of ion energy and incident flux is given.
