Injury is a major issue in the Pacific Islands but often overlooked due to competing priorities, prompting a study to assess existing prevention strategies across 18 nations.
The study reviewed 44 publicly available documents and found that most strategies focus on traffic injuries, natural disasters, and intimate partner violence, with no plans for preventing other injuries like drowning or falls.
Recommendations include creating better data systems to track progress and developing strategies for neglected injury areas to reduce the overall burden in these communities.*
