- Asthma and atopic dermatitis are connected by cysteinyl-leukotrienes, which are important mediators in both conditions.
- A new polymorphism (927T>C) in the CYSLTR1 gene located on the X chromosome was studied among children with asthma and atopic dermatitis, revealing higher prevalence of the C allele in boys with both conditions.
- Findings indicate that this SNP may predispose male children to asthma and atopic dermatitis, although further research is needed to validate these results.
