Objective: To determine the difference in prevention of chemotherapy-induced fatigue between time-acupoints-space acupuncture (ATAS) administered weekly compared to sham acupuncture and non-acupuncture in patients with early breast cancer receiving adjuvant chemotherapy by epirubicine-cyclophosphamide (EC) followed by paclitaxel, as measured by the multi-dimensional fatigue inventory (MFI) over the previous week and Visual Analogue Scale measuring fatigue (VAS-F), and to evaluate the effects of ATAS on self-reported neuropathy pain, sleep, anxiety and depression.

The present work reports on the assessment of luminescent probes derived from citric acid (CA) and β-aminothiols (namely, l-cysteine (Cys) and cysteamine) for instrumental and smartphone-based fluorimetric sensing purposes. Remarkably, the evaluated luminescent probes derived from natural compounds showed pH-dependent dual excitation/dual emission features. Both fluorophores hold promise for the ratiometric fluorimetric sensing of pH, being especially convenient for the smartphone-based sensing of pH via ratiometric analysis by proper selection of B and G color channels.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are attractive materials used as sorbents in analytical microextraction applications for contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) from environmental liquid matrices. The demanding specs for a sorbent in the analytical application can be comprehensively studied by considering the interactions of the target analytes with the frameworks by the use of single-crystal X-ray diffraction, computational analysis, and adsorption studies, including the kinetic ones. The occurrence of anthocyanin (ACN) and metal (Me) complexes has been widely supported by many research works while the possibility that ACNs bind to metalloids (Mds) is yet to be proven. Here, metalloids (HBO for B; GeO for Ge) were added to cyanidin-based solutions at pH 5, 6, and 7 and ACN-Md stoichiometric ratios of 1:1, 1:10, 1:100, and 1:500, and UV-vis transmittance spectroscopy as well as density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to test this hypothesis. Ge and B addition caused bathochromic and hyperchromic shifts on ACN UV-vis spectra, particularly pronounced at pH 5 and a 1:500 (ACN:Md) ratio.

This study focuses on the structural rearrangements and the photoluminescent behavior of pyrolytically derived carbon dots when subjected to a series of cyclic voltammetry sweeps. Although the electrical signals involved are not pronounced, multiple electrochemical cycling results in a progressive suppression of the photoluminescence, so that after 42 sweeps the intensity is reduced by one order of magnitude. At the same time, the fluorescence component stemming from the organic fluorophores is blue-shifted, while the contribution of the carbogenic cores is red-shifted.

Developing hierarchical porous carbon (HPC) materials with competing textural characteristics such as surface area and pore volume in one material is difficult to accomplish, particularly for an atomically ordered graphitic carbon. Herein we describe a synthesis strategy to engineer tunable HPC materials across micro-, meso-, and macroporous length scales, allowing the fabrication of a graphitic HPC material (HPC-G) with both very high surface area (>2500 m/g) and pore volume (>11 cm/g), the combination of which has not been attained previously. The reluctance of gold to achieve oxidative addition reaction is considered as an intrinsic limitation for the development of gold-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions with simple and ubiquitous aryl halide electrophiles. Here, we report the rational construction of a Au(I)/Au(III) catalytic cycle involving a sequence of Csp-X oxidative addition, Csp-H auration and reductive elimination, allowing a gold-catalyzed direct arylation of arenes with aryl halides. Key to this discovery is the use of Me-Dalphos, a simple ancillary (P,N) ligand, that allows the bottleneck oxidative addition of aryl iodides and bromides to readily proceed under mild conditions.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown promising behavior for adsorption cooling applications. Using organic ligands with 1, 2, and 3 phenylene rings, we construct moisture-stable Ni-MOF-74 members with adjustable pore apertures, which exhibit excellent sorption capabilities toward water and fluorocarbon R134a.
