Understanding the extent and implications of microplastic (MP) pollution along the São Paulo State coastline in southeastern Brazil is crucial, considering the significant environmental burden imposed by industrial and port activities in this region. This research aims to understand the complex dynamics of MP deposition on sandy beaches, which poses severe environmental risks to coastal ecosystems, marine organisms, and humans. Using a comprehensive five-step methodology-geodetic surveys, sediment collection, μ-RAMAN spectrometry for polymer identification, and multivariate statistical models-we analyzed the distribution of MPs across six coastal compartments (C1 to C6).

Method And Materials: Ten patients received conventional bleaching treatment: 35% hydrogen peroxide with three bleaching sessions of 45 minutes, evaluating color change (∆E and ∆E00), Whitening Index (WID), and tooth sensitivity (visual analog scale). Thermal stimulus-generating devices were used to simulate sensitivity caused by low temperatures through quantitative sensory tests.
Species phenology - the timing of key life events - is being altered by ongoing climate changes with yet underappreciated consequences for ecosystem stability. While flowering is generally occurring earlier, we know much less about other key processes such as the time of fruit ripening, largely due to the lack of comprehensive long-term datasets. Here we provide information on the exact date and site where seeds of 4,462 taxa were collected for the Index Seminum (seed exchange catalogue) of the Botanic Garden of the University of Coimbra, between 1926 and 2013.

This study is aimed at investigating the genetic alterations and clinical features of GBM patients to find predictors of survival. GBM patients' methylation and gene expression data along with clinical information from TCGA were retrieved.

The principle is examined in the context of the hypothesis testing problem. We prove that the mixed test obeys the principle for discrete sample spaces.

Objective: To assess whether bleaching gel volume influences chromatic changes, hydrogen peroxide (HP) diffusion, inflammation, and oxidative stress in the pulp tissue.
Methodology: A total of 60 bovine teeth were divided into four groups, according to bleaching gel volume (n=15): without gel (WG); V30 (30 µL of 35% HP); V60 (60 µL); and V120 (120 μL). HP diffusion analysis was performed in the first session (T1).

This study checked the efficacy of progesterone (P4) device reinsertion during the early luteal phase on luteal function and embryo yield in superovulated crossbred ewes. Twenty multiparous ewes received an intravaginal P4 device for nine days (D0 to D9) followed by six decreasing doses (25, 25, 15, 15, 10, 10%) of 133 mg pFSH i.m.

The differential diagnosis is challenging and includes other neuropathies of medullary, radicular, or peripheral origin. Defining the etiology is equally crucial, as LSP management relies on its cause.

The FBST is characterized by the -value as an evidence index in favor of the null hypothesis (). An important practical issue for the implementation of the FBST is to establish how small the evidence against must be in order to decide for its rejection.

[ F]fluoropyridine-losartan has shown favorable binding profile for quantitative renal PET imaging of AT R with selective binding in rats and pigs, low interference of radiometabolites and appropriate dosimetry for clinical translation. A new approach was developed to produce [ F]fluoropyridine-losartan in very high molar activity.

Here, we describe the semisynthesis of twenty-one betaxanthins derived from proteinogenic amino acids, including the elusive betaxanthin of l-cysteine and two betaxanthins derived from l-lysine, and rationalize their antioxidant properties in mechanistic terms. The antioxidant capacity and redox potential of these betaxanthins were compared to those of model betaxanthins derived from dopamine, l-DOPA (L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine), and pyrrolidine and structure-property relationships were established by using matched molecular pair analysis and a model developed using a genetic algorithm.

The materials were characterized by structural, morphological, and electrochemical techniques. The oxides with higher Co : Mn molar ratio presented a lower electron transfer resistance, and consequently the most promising OER activities.

This study aims to evaluate in vitro the effect of violet LED when applied directly to dentin tissue pigmented by different substances. We analyzed the chromatic alteration, the bleaching effect and the temperature variation. Hence, 60 bovine dentin tissue discs were divided into five groups: NNatural Pigmentation; T-Black Tea; C-Soluble Coffee; W-Red Wine; B-Equine Blood.

This study aims to evaluate if the consumption of a plant-based diet affects body composition of adults, through a systematic review of the literature. The review was reported following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement.

AmDODA is encoded by the gene, whose DNA sequence was inferred from cDNA and gDNA libraries almost 30 years ago. However, reports on its heterologous expression rely on either the original 5'-truncated cDNA plasmid or artificial gene synthesis.

We developed EIA based serologic assays using recombinant proteins (rLigA, rLigB, rLipL32) and whole-cell extracts from eight Leptospira serovars as antigen and assessed the diagnostic performance of the new assay within each class, against MAT positive (MAT+) human sera panels from Portugal/PT (n = 143) and Angola/AO (n = 100). We found that a combination of recombinant proteins rLigA, rLigB and rLipL32 correctly identified antigen-specific IgG from patients with clinical and laboratory confirmed leptospirosis (MAT+) with 92% sensitivity and ~ 97% specificity (AUC 0.

Thirty patients were selected and allocated to three groups (n=10 per group), according to the location of the gel: GI, cervical application; GII, incisal application; and GIII, total facial. The amount and time of application of the 35% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) gel were standardized.

The removal of direct composite veneers, when the retreatment is necessary, represents a challenge to the clinician, since the healthy dental structure must be preserved. Thus, the aim of this study was to compare the accuracy provided by different auxiliary devices during retreatment of direct composite veneers. Seventy-five bovine teeth were prepared for direct composite veneers, scanned (T1), and restored.

With this study we aimed to identify specific prognostic biomarkers for OSCC using a whole genome technology as well as to verify the clinical utility of a head and neck cancer-specific multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) panel. A genomic characterization of tumor samples from 62 OSCC patients was performed using array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) and a more straightforward and cost-effective molecular technology, MLPA.
