Introduction: Duodeno-gastroesophageal reflux aspiration is associated with chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD). Reflux aspirate can contain bile acids (BA), functional molecules in the gastro-intestinal tract with emulsifying properties. We sought to determine and quantify the various BA species in airways of the lung transplant recipients to better understand the various effects of aspirated BA that contribute to post-transplantation outcomes.

Background: Hypoenhanced regions on multidetector CT (MDCT) coronary angiography correlate with myocardial hyperperfusion. In addition to a limited capillary density, chronic myocardial infarction (MI) commonly contains a considerable amount of adipose tissue.
Objective: We explored whether regional myocardial hypoenhancement on contrast-enhanced MDCT could be identified with standard coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring acquisitions with noncontrast CT.
We describe an 18-year-old man with muscle cramps and recurrent exertional myoglobinuria, without hemolytic anemia or brain dysfunction. Phosphoglycerate kinase (PGK) deficiency was documented in muscle and erythrocytes and molecular analysis of the PGK1 gene identified a novel mutation, T378P. This is the ninth case presenting with isolated myopathy, whereas most other patients show hereditary non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia alone or associated with brain dysfunction, and a few patients have myopathy plus brain involvement.
