Hepatoprotective effects of phosphatidylserine liposomes on carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity in rats.

It has been proposed carbon tetrachloride (CCl ) intoxication due to the production of free radicals and serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) overload results hepatotoxicity. Phosphatidylserine (PS) has shown antioxidant activity in numerous studies. Therefore, this study was aimed to investigate the effects of PS liposomes treatment against the CCl -induced hepatotoxicity in a rat model.

Serum zinc levels in children and adolescents with type-1 diabetes mellitus.

Background: There have been very few studies, with contradictory results, on the zinc status of children and adolescents with type-1 diabetes mellitus. The objective of this cross-sectional study was to determine zinc status based on the serum zinc concentration in type-1 diabetic children and adolescents and compare it with that of healthy controls.

Methods: Thirty children and adolescents with type-1 diabetes mellitus, aged 6 to 18 years, and 30 age- and sex-matched healthy controls participated in the study.

Totally laparoscopic aortobifemoral bypass: a review of 10 patients.

The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of totally laparoscopic aortobifemoral bypass for occlusive aortoiliac disease. Ten patients who had incapacitating claudication have been included to date in this investigation. We have designed a transabdominal retroperitoneal technique that allows performance of the procedure without the problems associated with retraction of intraperitoneal organs.
