- Nanoparticles, particularly silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), are being explored as eco-friendly alternatives to traditional chemical control agents, with this study specifically focusing on biosynthesizing AgNPs using the peels of the tomato plant (Lycopersicon esculentum).
- The synthesis of AgNPs was indicated by a color change of the tomato peel extract, and their properties were analyzed using various spectral and imaging techniques, revealing nanoparticles of around 186 nm in size and demonstrating high stability.
- The study found Le-AgNPs effective against bacteria and fungi, particularly inhibiting Bacillus subtilis and Alternaria solani, while also noting the cytotoxic effects at certain concentrations.
